  1. That was a frustrating game/series IMO - offense was stagnant, which was a bit frustrating. As well as what seemed to be every White Sox leadoff hitter getting on base in every darn inning. Also - if not for the White Sox ineptitude in that 2nd game, the Twins lose 2 of 3 instead of winning 2 of 3.
  2. Yarnivek did the work for me - the Twins don't need to do that deal, right now, given how cheap he will be for the foreseeable future. They can revisit it down the road in a couple of years if he sustains the success, but at this point, you do not give a guy $5 million AAV that has less than 300 career ABs. Just foolish.
  3. Just checked MLB - it was a fastball. If I knew how to share the image, I would. It just looked like a curve ball.
  4. Why not? Romero at least has stuff that can get a K when needed and be successful. The book is out on Harper. Lay off the breaking pitch, and sit on his fastball and absolutely crush it - which is what the guy did.
  5. Right - but you don't offer that kind of contract to a guy with under 300 career ABs at the ML level. Let's let this thing ride out a little more before we start shelling out more money than is even necessary at this point.
  6. Someone like Romero could really help the 2020 bullpen if he figures it out. I do agree with the post above that the Twins need another left handed arm in the pen to go along with Rogers.
  7. Like Chief said, ride the wave. Perhaps a move to the OF would make sense if the Twins opt to keep him and they don't view him as an adequate enough 2B?
  8. A win is a win, but the ineptitude of the White Sox really got Rocco off the hook last night - why is Harper being used in high leverage situations at all? It made no sense to bring him in when you had a rested Graterol or Romero. I assume he is saving Dobnak, Smeltzer, and Thorpe for the weekend but come on - using Harper in that situation was a bone headed move. Having Odo go 7 tonight would be huge, but unexpected. Twins have struggled against Nova too, so maybe tonight is the night they bust out.
  9. Right. A lot of times the base runner, in that situation, isn't stealing off of the catcher. Rather, a number of other factors (such as the fielders positioning, etc.).
  10. Pavano, Liriano, & Duensing. Those are the 3 starting pitchers the Twins used in their last appearance in the postseason. Are Berrios, Odo, and __________ a better trio?
  11. The way the ALDS schedule sets up, you play back to back games on the 4th and 5th - then an off day. Then back at it on the 7th. If the Twins were really considering a bullpen game, you could set yourself up for one in Game 2, and have the off day to get everyone rested. Obviously, this means Game 1 would have to go about as well as it possibly could with having to use limited bullpen arms. These conversations are fun - I just hope we aren't jinxing it.
  12. For some guys, sure. It is all relative. I especially liked the idea of sinker ballers sinking more when they were pitching on shorter rest (would hear this often when guys like Blackburn, SIlva, etc.) were heeling the rubber.
  13. Sounds like Marwin might be back tonight...? Need another good start out of Berrios.
  14. LaMarre has absolutely no future with this team. None. Kiriloff does - he is a more talented player than LaMarre, and is more likely to make an "impact" over the course of the next couple weeks. He will also get AB's and experience in an extremely valuable playing environment. This move just makes zero sense.
  15. Agreed - Saturday is very likely going to be an L with Clevinger on the mound.
  16. The fact that Ryan LaMarre is getting meaningful AB's in a pennant race instead of Kiriloff is all the proof I need that this organization/front office still doesn't get it.
  17. I really couldn't care less if the Twins hit another "bomba" as long as they win more games. This whole bomba thing has run its course, IMO. Win some damn ballgames and then talk to me.
  18. Let's pump the brakes on articles such as these, shall we?
  19. Oh, and Kohl Stewart has no place pitching in a MLB game that isn't an absolute blow out. Last night's game was not that, so why he was used is absolutely unacceptable by Baldelli and his staff. The guy isn't a major league pitcher, and should be outrighted as soon as possible.
  20. Tonight or Sunday are the only games in this series that the Twins have a chance at winning. They face Clevinger on Saturday, who absolutely dominates the Twins. That will be an L.
