I think one piece of context that’s often missed is that the league wide OPS is over .800 for the intl league and era is over 5. He’s been great and there’s credit to be given, but all these AAA guys have great OPS’ for a reason. Hitting stats in this league are just so bloated every year

Either Falvey remains so shell-shocked by his recent trade failures or he's so sure he's keeping his job that he has become this complacent. What an absolute failure especially with Brock Stewart having a setback this past weekend. The best overall pitching staff most of us have ever seen on the Twins and a chance to beef up the top heavy pen and potentially add a right handed bat so we don't have to see so much of Gallo, Castro, MAT, Farmer and they just punt the opportunity away just like they did in the offseason. We all recognize the playoff losing streak and Twins curse. We also recognize this curse most likely stems from terrible pitching staffs in years they make the playoffs and taking advantage of the terrible AL Central which has been the worst division consistently for nearly 2 decades now. And because they did nothing and haven't cleared a 40 man roster spot they're going to lose Keuchel who did everything they hoped for in AAA and more. How many good players has the duo of Cole Sands and now gone Jake Cave blocked by being on the 40 these last few years? At least call up some of the minors bullpen help in guys like Funderbunk and Boyle dominating AAA, but they'd rather stick with Moran, Ortega, Sands.

Rocco is really lucky removing Julien didn’t come back to bite him. The chance Taylor steals against a lefty is slim and his sprint speed isn’t that much better that it likely would have mattered on a two out double. Rocco can’t be making those kinds of silly changes

Edouard Julien Has a Blueprint to Work On
Azviking101 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins current issue is a ton of young hitters who either haven’t hit consistently or haven’t been healthy consistently. Most of that crop would fit best at first base or DH as wel. Since nobody has been consistent they can’t trade anyone so they have to ride it out and hope some of these guys come through. The other problem lies with the all world defender and platinum glove winner at DH exclusively -
Twins Add Infield Depth, Sign Veteran Donovan Solano
Azviking101 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope this doesn’t mean a trade for a relief pitcher. They spent 13 million abouts on Bundy, Archer, Smith (after incentives and buyouts). Would have been so much easier to just give Chafin 6 or Moore 7.5 But we all know Falvey hates quality free agent pitching -

More depth which is amazing. Just still don’t get why bullpen depth isn’t important -
Rumor: Twins interested in Brad Hand?
Azviking101 replied to Squirrel's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Why can't they just make one move to fortify the bullpen? Last year, Twins gave Bundy 5 million and I think Archer got close to 7 after incentives and buyout. Neither did anything for the team last year, but two legit setup men got 5.5 and 7.5 (Chafin and Moore) and the Twins scoffed at that. Brad Hand appears to be close to done in this league and would likely be a waste of money. Someone needs to have a quality over quantity conversation with the Twins brass when it comes to pitching FA deals, -
The diamondbacks were very close to selecting Jay number one overall so yeah he was very much hyped up. Both had very similar size and a fastball/slider/change up repertoire all thrown at similar speeds. Jay was trying to move from a reliever to a starter Prielipp hasn’t pitched in 3 years. Similar hurdles I get why people are excited but I’ve seen him ranked as high as 4 on twins prospect lists. That’s ridiculous. If he showcased the same stuff but was a 5’9 righty nobody would know his name.

One "Moore" Bullpen Piece for Minnesota
Azviking101 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They’re so close, I don’t understand why they don’t throw a few more million out at a good quality reliever. I recognize that Falvey has faith in the current bullpen, but he’s formed a great backup plan for the rotation and the position players. Relief is the cheapest backup plan there is and he just doesn’t want to budge. there’s a lot of potential in this pen, but too much risk to sit around and do nothing.- 40 replies

Thank you for mentioning Ryan’s stats against everyone else. I just don’t see any overwhelmingly dangerous pitches and he can’t seem to keep his fastball velocity up. We’ll see 94/95 for an inning or 2 and then it’ll be 89-91 the rest of the game. I frankly don’t see him taking the next step

Trading a Bat for an Arm
Azviking101 replied to Hunter McCall's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think you have to give the FO credit in playing some role in their development even if they weren’t the ones to draft them, but I see what you’re saying for sure -
This article acts like Correa is only allowed to be given one physical a year and acts like the Mets won’t be allowed to perform one and the Twins wouldn’t have been able to either. Twins didn’t want to spend the money, simple at that. oh, it’s a nick Nelson article. Should have expected that. Always leaving out key details that don’t fit his narrative

Minnesota Twins Sign Joey Gallo
Azviking101 replied to Theodore Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They are nowadays. You see what Bellinger got? prove it deals nowadays are large 1 year deals to set the player up for a potential massive deal the next. Rodon got one last year -
Minnesota Twins Sign Joey Gallo
Azviking101 replied to Theodore Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes and I do not believe Kepler will have a ton more production, but I do think those ground balls into the shift will start bleeding through, If he can get his OPS back up to .750 he will be a 5 WAR player. That could bring back a huge trade haul. Sadly, I don't believe the Falvine duo thought about this -
Minnesota Twins Sign Joey Gallo
Azviking101 replied to Theodore Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have no issue giving someone like this a prove it deal. Here's my main problem here. Kepler is coming off a bad year, with the potential to have a really good year if the analytics are correct about the loss of the shift. Kepler also has a team option next year. Gallo has the chance to bounce back, but he's on a 1 year contract, so if he does he's going to get a massive contract next year from someone not named the Twins. Twins had the chance to have a potential huge trade package next year for Kepler or keep him for a season on the cheap and get massive production for little money. As a mid-market team, they have to make the most out of these things and this is a bad decision. Now there is a great chance neither happens, but the Twins didn't put themselves in position to benefit if that comes true. This just adds to my belief that Falvine duo is clueless. -

Rumor: Carlos Rodon Signs with the New York Yankees
Azviking101 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
And this is a startling trend during the Falvey era. For a team dead set on being right in the middle of payroll, those are the players that you should be aiming for -
Rumor: Carlos Rodon Signs with the New York Yankees
Azviking101 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Ok but they could have improved the team by focusing on guys like Bassitt, Abreu, Contreras, Senga, Bell etc but instead they tried to live in their little fairyland that they could get these stars and they didn’t stand a chance. Now the offseason is shot -
Rumor: Carlos Rodon Signs with the New York Yankees
Azviking101 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Time to burn it all to the ground. Can’t force Pohlads to sell but can bring in a FO with a pulse and a plan. The most embarrassing offseason in years. Only way to improve team now is decimate the 23rd ranked farm system. wow, just wow -
Rumor: Twins among teams 'seriously in play' for Rodon
Azviking101 replied to Musk21's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Rodon wants 200. twins would only offer Correa 285. I just see no way the twins would ever offer more than 140 to Rodon. Yankees will likely blow that number away -
Why is 90% of this related to Correa directly without pointing out the FO? They offered Correa less money than Turner got and put all their eggs in that basket. There was no chance Correa was going to say yes to that deal. Everyone knew he’d get around 350. He owes Mn nothing and I’m sick of people expecting that. So now what?

Senga Signs with Mets; what's left for Twins?
Azviking101 replied to mikelink45's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I’ll be tuning out this year if they decide not to do anything in free agency. I’m not wasting my time watching a team owned by people who simple don’t care -
Also they can’t sign Correa at 350 million then fill in the rest of the roster with more cheap junk. Fans won’t tune in for that, and no team will fear this team. however if they were to go with one of the below options that would make this team a contender Correa, Bassitt, Vazquez, Taylor Rogers / Chafin, 70-80 aav or Swanson, Rodon, Vazquez, Rogers/Chafin 70-80 aav
