  1. why is everyone a rental player because they are a free agent? Last I heard we had something like a 35 million dollar budget surplus. How does that equate to we dump all our decent guys for A and AA players. The word was so we could have prospects to trade when we contend. We are contending. Is every team afraid to deal with us because our FO is so smart. please...with all this accumulated ammunition from the 2018 fire sale where are the returns? I know you cant tell me because they dont exist. Unless you count a 36 year old middle reliever and a broken down pitcher that has been a sorry A$$ Giants fourth option all year. Shame on those Giants for not telling us Dyson's arm was about to fall off. It would have been too much trouble to have him checked out or even look at his analytic trends for the last month. Those sneaky Giants. How dare they trick our boy geniuses like that.
  2. exactly. I would not say they have been failures. I just do not understand how much time is spent here lauding their great accomplishments and jumping through the keyboard at anyone who criticizes one of their head scratching decisions. I am not scared to put them on blast. Let us not forget, neither of them has Ever won a Championship yet either. Maybe this team surprised all of us with their success. A F.O. with the juevos to seize the Window of Opportunity will take it home. The ones that are scared will be watching it on tv. 4 years into the 5 year plan they should be in tune to the here and now, not 2022. I cant wait to hear the excuses for this years outcome. Thank God Derek can blame it on the injuries instead if his damn self.
  3. if you wanna debate me i welcome you...my e mail is ccgschmidt19@gmail.com This is not the forum for that.
  4. I see the game with my eyes and my heart. Odirizzi is a winner. Perez had a live arm when i saw him at least ten times in Surprise Az. (rangers/royals spring training) Whatever has happened has been some good some bad. Some people cant wait to jump all over me because i was not and am not a member of the Falvine fan club. So What. They will nit be the reason for winning on the field. Nor should they be blamed for blown saves or popping out with RISP. Point....No Front Office is more important than the men and the field staff on the field every single day.
  5. you're right you dont know any better. They wouldnt have needed Rodney at all if they still had Kintzler. Remember him?
  6. Yes....I would absolutely like to know what that offer was. Anybody that knows about baseball would say that was a bonehead trade. I live in Arizona and i have seen Escobar become the heart and soul of the Diamondbacks. Just like he was as a Twin. They traded him for NOTHING. I can only see that they did that to dismantle the team chemistry. Well congrats...it worked. Now by doing nothing they are destroying this team as well. Being successful in 2017, and 2019 must have been too soon fir their "long term goals". I can only shake my head. I played the game and you will never convince me that Heart, Chemistry, Teamwork, and Leadership aren't Championship qualities.
  7. Rodney opened the 2018 season with Minnesota before being dealt to Oakland in August. Overall, the veteran reliever posted a combined 3.36 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 across 64.1 innings of relief. He also registered 25 saves and seven holds. I usually would not bother with this...The Twins in 2018 were not out of it. The Fernando Rodney Experience netted us 25 saves before the trading deadline. I would have been mad as H E double hockey sticks if i had 2018 season tickets and had to watch 1/3 of the season like a spring training try out session. Contrary to popular belief Willians Astudillo is no Mitch Garver...or Jason Castro. I got all day. Until the game starts. For those of us with 35 plus years of Minnesota Twins fans experience, sorry man. Jack Morris left us too. We arent gonna miss two Cleveland and Texas interns when they leave either. With any luck.
  8. The last thing I come here to do is argue with anyone. Especially when we are all united by a common bond. I don't wanna waste time defending my opinions nor trying to rebut yours. I get it that a lot of people are pleased with the FO. Congrats to them on a successful team effort and yes they do deserve some of the credit. My point is this....Let us not forget our feelings when they began their historic careers here. It seems like everyone here thinks they are the saviors of our franchise. Some of us used to think that way about Terry Ryan too. You are a smart guy I am sure of that. When i soured on this FO was when in 2017 and this team was white hot, they couldn't step back and leave em alone. Trading Kintzler at that time was idiotic. Then they dismantle the team in 2018 saying we have no opportunity for a Championship. Now....with all of us looking out the window of opportunity they have basically locked the window and sat on their hands to watch the (anticipated) ending. I hope we shock the world in 2019. If we do, let me apologize now if I cant see why they deserve any credit for it. If Rodney and his 25 saves at the time of that trade was so bad then why are we paying a disabled low A player a high draft pick salary instead of just cutting Rodney back then. Wait, was that the same Fernando Rodney that recorded a Hold for the Nats last night? It couldn't be the same guy. You wanted Odorizzi's a$$ outta town last year when he couldnt get past 5 innings. Now you're gonna applaud that trade. Its basically the same guy with run support. I said all along he had always been better than 2018. You CAN have it both ways...I dont care. I just see it through different eyes. They have done an ok job in the front office. They are not our saviors. This team will survive believe me, without them. If you wanna praise anyone for any of this why not praise the Pohlads? They hired em. I think Baldelli has been the key this year. To me Falvey and Levine are what I thought they were. Yes Men. "we have a limited budget". "we dont have a window of opportunity". "we dint see the long term benefits". "we have money cleared but no one is available" All they do is provide excuses for failure or their decisions not to take a risk. When they go I wont miss em. Dombrowski would take this opportunity and run with it. After you cry about them leaving for their dream jobs you wont miss em either.I didnt know what to expect from Andy McPhail either but I know what we got. The time to go for it was before the trading deadline, or last winter. They didnt do enough. Soon you will hear a B.S. excuse about how their hands were tied. I will be right here waiting to say "I told you so" In the meantime...Lets beat the damn Nationals tonight!!!!" All this debating this ar that about the Falvines wont matter one bit next year when someone else is in charge. I apologize if I wasn't and am not impressed by our young leaders. As a Twins fan for life I reserve that right.
  9. unbelievably a voice of reason in a sea of insanity...bravo sir. I am still waiting for Derek Falveys autographed framed photo to come in the mail so i can put on the wall in my office.
  10. i absolutely do not expect everyone to agree with me 100% however, i can cite at least 3 specific moves that infuriated me last year. Escobar, Pressly, and Rodney. And in 2017 what was that Jaime Garcia fiasco? Does anyone even remember what we got for our closer at the time Brandon Kintzler? I am more than an average fan and frankly I am not impressed with either of them. I do not begrudge anyone to think they are the reason for any of our successes. I just know better. I realize this is a "pro" ownership site and most of you weren't old enough to enjoy the Championship Seasons or even realize what was really happening. Believe me, if we win another one, it will be because of the players and the manager on the field. Not the owner, the gm, the CEO, or the yes men.If they love it here so much let em stay...maybe some day they could carry Andy McPhails briefcase for him.
  11. I've been an east fan since '76. My dad taught me history. These 'analytic screen savers' don't look like Branch Rickey to me. Thanks for letting me speak
  12. I wish we can stop talking about Falvey and Levine and give props to Rocco, Wes Johnson and the rest of the staff
  13. You know what no its not a joke. Without going through all the reasons specifically, I remember everything that's happened since 2016. Im not going to take it out on you, but I remember winning in 2017 in spite of them, losing and tanking 60 games because of them in 2018. And this year, after their self proclaimed window of opportunity to compete with the American league powers is right in front of all our faces, what have they done?....Everybody knows they needed bullpen and rotation upgrades to be a major player. This team is no major power. Next we will hear how Pohlad wouldnt let them spend the money when he said publicly he would. Boston can have em both. We will survive the loss believe me.
  14. It was a sort of a joke, but at the same time a very real possibility. I dont have to think they have done an outstanding job....that doesnt change the fact that first and foremost i am a Minnesota Twins fan. We will be fine when they go and we would have been fine if we never saw them. If you wanna restrict comments to only those who think Falvey and Levine are the best executives EVER, then please let the rest of us know. The article i responded to specifically ask what Twins officials may not be back next year. it said nothing about why or how they would leave. Maybe Dave Dombrowski will come here and lead us to a Championship. I am sorry if i dont see it happening this year. I suppose you want to reprimand me for that opinion too.
  15. well if 100 wins meant a guaranteed World Series Championship then I can see your point. Falvey has yet to do it this year and i would bet you anything they won't win 100 this year either. Just because they have had one successful season I am supposed to jump on the band wagon and declare them the greatest Twins FO combo in history? I would say they inherited a lot of these players and their moves, although some were very nice, the ones they did not make will define their tenure here. They have a 5 year commitment to the Minnesota Twins. It should not surprise you if they run to Boston, or Cleveland, or Texas or wherever they came from. In the meantime i reserve the right to refuse to award them de facto MLB executives of the year 2019.
  16. [qute name=Brock Beauchamp" post="913185" timestamp="1568175350]I'm allowed to rebut others' opinions, particularly if I think they're bad throwaway takes, which that was. In fact, by the forum rules, the original post was actually trolling. Would you rather have had me infract the poster with an official warning or gently poke fun of a terrible take on baseball? Here at Twins Daily, we frown heavily upon one sentence, negative takes that offer nothing to further meaningful discussion. Particularly takes that are meant only to inflame the board and further encourage more bad one sentence mouth-breaths on the subject. We're not RubeChat. There's also a reason RubeChat shut down. But nice try to turn my rebuttal on a bad take back at me, tiger. sorry if i do not think their performance is that great. Nor do i choose to give them all the credit for this season's success. Do they deserve some, yes. I am not going to annoint either of them MLB executives of the year. I have already heard Falvey's name linked to the Boston job and I will not be sorry to see both of them move on. You should not be surprised if you find out that the Twins job was only ever meant to be a stepping stone.
  17. well im pretty sure i didnt mean i want them to be the wild card. That was just the topic of discussions that refreshed my memory of a 2010 team that acted like it hadn't ever seen a playoff series before.(and a certain manager too)
  18. You know four people responded to my post and all of you make great points. When i really think about it what i am afraid of is that they lose their edge. A friend of mine and I were trying to name a wild card team thats ever won a World Series. We started it out because we talked about how hard it would be to go on the road after game #162...win one game, then fly out to the #1 seed and start the LDS. We came to find out that several titles have been won by wild card teams including both Marlin's ones and the 04' Red Sox. When i think back to 2010, the Twins clinched so early that i feel they lost their competitive edge. I just don't wanna see that happen to this years team.
  19. i really like all these comments but i hope Rocco is listening when i say this. In a 5 game LDS those first 2 games at home is a Huge advantage. Let us not forget we have time to get that #2 seed. And, we would hold the tiebreaker over the Stros based on our 4-3 season series win.
  20. And the Juggernaught rolls on! Does anybody even remember 2016....i feel like that was just a bad dream.
  21. True That!! it was alarming to see Cleveland play so well for so long but fact is there are some really good players over there too. Like I've said all along, Cleveland doesnt have the heart to sustain that level of play. Winning 2 of every 3 games from here out gives us 100 wins and maybe, just maybe a #2 seed. Keep it up Rocco!!! At what point do we say... we'd rather play the Astros with home field advantage? That time is NOW!.
  22. Yeah I am on board with the signing. He looks great as a #3 or #4 guy. It's a lot earlier than I thought he would step up but he certainly has. The problems we have are not him or the starters. They are not the offense. They are not Rogers. The problem is the bridge from the 6th to 9th innings. Unfortunately this was crystal clear as early as November 2018. It's Unbelievable that a front office with unlimited spending potential(by their own admission) and a deep and talent rich farm system cannot in 9 months fortify a bullpen that was an obvious weakness since they took over this team. I am tired if hearing how brilliant our 2 "boy wonders"are. To never be in the race is one thing, but to lead all year and stand by blindly and watch the train wreck is maddening. Next we are gonna hear some excuse about how Syndergaard for Buxton was a dumb proposal. Last I checked Syndergaard hadn't missed a start this year. I sure didn't see BB in the lineup today? I'm 55 years old. I don't have time to watch this 5 year plan develop when all year we played almost .700 ball. what more window of opportunity did you expect. I'm gonna be sick if I have to watch that sorry ass Cleveland team ever represent the AL Central in the playoffs again!
  23. How about I just judge ALL of their decisions and just say they should be escorted back to the airport and sent back to Cleveland and Dallas respectively.
