  1. Let’s get beyond Correa. He had three chances to resign with the Twins for more money per year, and he failed. Let him take his trash can elsewhere
  2. I never want to hear or see Carlos Correa again
  3. It’s a fair question, yet I’m an optimist. Sano has had to mature as a person. My impression is that he has done that. Nothing improves your performance like failing and get back at it again. Sano had a poor 2018 season accompanied by injuries. There is no one who has displayed more exuberance since rejoining the team than Sano. He is carrying an incredibly good attitude. If Miggy can carry a .250 batting average, continue to perform well at 3B, and hit his share of big flies, I’ll be pleased.
  4. Twins now have some history will pop-up players. Larnich flashed his last year in college.
  5. Like the pick. He’ll need to fix that loopy delivery. Base runners will have field day
  6. The player at AAA that’s advancing is Luke Raley (OF/1B) with a .275 average including 5 home runs. He’s been on a tear lately. The talent pipeline is starting to blossom at AA and AAA levels. While I like the potential Rocker provides, don’t sleep on Raley. Another return from the Dodgers for Dozier trade is Devin Smeltzer. He just advanced to AAA after carrying a .060 ERA at AA Pensacola
  7. Sano really hasn’t had a spring training this season, so I suspect we are weeks away from his return. Perhaps months away given his early form at Pensacola. Sano had a three-run homer over the weekend but has been quiet otherwise. He was 0-5 today with 2 strikeouts. His BA is .091 Still early, he could surprise us but early returns show he needs to improve his timing and approach at the plate yet. Then, once he starts clicking, he will need to catch up at AAA. I’m suspecting mid-June right now.
  8. I like the signing. We don’t account for the missed games due to injury and illness, but they are inevitable. We also don’t take into account the jammed schedules resulting for primarily early season weather related rescheduling.
  9. Kirilloff’s batting average .362 compares favorably Mauer at High A level (.320). I mention that because Mauer made it to majors the following season (2004)
  10. Got to feel bad for Dick Bremmer during the late stages of this season. It’s hard to pump life into a dying corpse. The season has been disappointing in terms of win-loss. Berrios and Gibson are at best middle of rotation pitchers. Oder is serviceable at the backend. Stewart and Gonslaves are headed back to AAA to start next season knowing what they need to do and not do at the majors. Our middle infielders should be used for trade chips in the off-season. We need upgrades at SS and 2B, along with pitching. The good news is Lewis and Kilrliloff should start at AA next season. Assuming they perform well, they will advance to AAA by mid year and make the September expanded roster by season’s end.
  11. What can you even say about this game? —- It’s officially football season. The only question now is where in the 2019 do the Twins draft?
  12. All are performing well. Minnesota Twins traded SS Eduardo Escobar to Arizona Diamondbacks for RF Ernie De La Trinidad, RF Gabriel Maciel and RHP Jhoan Duran.
  13. Kernels middle infielders Helman (.379) and Davis (.308) are two players to keep an eye on. Each player is 22 years of age.
  14. 1) Buxton is still relatively young and plays arguably the best defense in baseball. On a “five tool” scale, he registers at the top of every category other than hitting for average. I’d like Rod Carew to work on drag bunting with Buxton in the off-season and spring training.. It would raise his BA considerably. 2) We’ve seen the mishandled plays by outfielders like Cave and Grossman. Defending against runs scored is just as important as hitting home runs. 3) As for Mauer, forgetaboutit. Joe will sign a two-year extension for $5-$8 million pet year. How many anchors does the Twins have on its 25-man roster? Paul Molitor admired Mauer, Twins management loves Joe. Mauer may be the only reason other than a competitive contract that would draw free agents to the Twins.
  15. Great comments by everyone on this thread.
  16. Play Twins management. Let’s say you have a bank of $100 million to spend this coming off-season. How would you allocate it based on position? For example... $40 million towards rotation pitchers $30 million towards relievers and a closer $15 million for a 2B er
  17. Tough to give an overall grade because there are multiple dimensions. 1) Free Agency 2) Trades 3) Franchise Direction 4) Farm System 5) Payroll 6) Draft 7) Scouting It’s important to consider point in time too. For example, there was ample handwringing when Escobar was traded. Now, in retrospect, the return for this fan favorite player has helped set up the franchise for the future. PS: Lance Lynn frustrated me immensely with his inability to field his position. Covering first base and fielding bunts was hard to watch with Lynn.
  18. Congrats to the Kernels! They have some boomers on that team along with promising pitchers.
  19. I’ve never understood why Buxton doesn’t mix in drag bunts. With his speed he could add double digits to his BA. Rod Carew made a living doing it
  20. The guy I’m keeping an eye on his Michael Helman. Michael Helman http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=680737#/career/R/hitting/2018/ALL
  21. I’ve noticed that none of the players we received from trade deadline deals are shown as Top Prospects even though they were shown in the MLB Twins Top 30 Prospects for 2018. Some of them are doing very well, maybe better than some of the players on our normal list. Im not complaining, just something to consider going forward. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=min Luke Raley Jhoan Duran Ernie De La Trinidad
  22. —- Murphy has been playing 2B all week for the Cubs and, before that, with the Nats. You are right that he had knee surgery that held him out for much of the season, but the Nats and Cubs have faith is his 2B defense. Cubs have him batting lead-off. And, we might get him at a discount.
  23. Daniel Murphy, who is currently on rental to the Cubs. Murphy, a veteran, is no stranger to October baseball. He has hit eight home runs in 24 postseason games. In 2015, he became the first player in MLB history to homer in six consecutive playoff contests. Murphy, a three-time All-Star, will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this year. Murphy is your placeholder until Royce or someone steps up.
