  1. It's something I would *love* to do but the time required to make it work just isn't feasible right now. Down the road, it's something I'd like to implement.
  2. Really? UZR doesn't account for walls? That's absurd. Plenty of stadiums have 10+ ft walls which make a catch impossible.
  3. Tickets are on sale, everybody! http://twinsdaily.com/store/product/5-winter-meltdown-2015/
  4. Not really, at least not in any fashion I can devise. How would one filter the forums? Let's say you want to filter down to Oswaldo Arcia content... By topic name? Well, topic names are inconsistent. A thread might be about Arcia but not mention him in the thread title. By topic content? Well, topic content is even more inconsistent. A thread about Hunter will almost surely have Arcia's name mentioned in it, if only to state which one is playing left and which is playing right. By tagging? Well, that would involve topic creators accurately tagging threads, which almost never happens. In community-driven conversation, filtering has some enormous hurdles to overcome and I don't see it working correctly if implemented.
  5. Sorry, we're not going to move the article threads into a special forum. Just ignore the threads... How is ignoring an article thread any different than ignoring a normal thread you don't want to read? Also, this site exists because of those advertisements on the sides of the site. I have no interest in hearing how you block them and deprive us of 95%+ of our revenue. For example, you wouldn't be able to read all that on-location Spring Training coverage without those advertisements... Or anything on this site, period.
  6. Amaro having a $150m+ budget had nothing to do with it. Come on. You'd be storming the gates of 1 Twins Way had Ryan ever done anything half as dumb as that Howard extension. Hell, you jump down his throat routinely over stuff way smarter than that. The Phillies are a bad team with bloated contracts and have a pretty bad farm system. There is little to like about what Amaro has done in recent years.
  7. I honestly believe that Ryan would have lost his job already had he done half the dumb crap Amaro did.
  8. Yep. Let the kids play. If Vargas struggles, put Pinto in there. He's 26 years old and needs the ABs. If Pinto fails, put Arcia in there. He's a bad fielder. And then there's Sano... Lots of DH options on this team.
  9. Well, OBP is more than walks but Williams didn't rack up many HBP so the bulk of his OBP was in fact from walking a lot.
  10. Thanks, Mike. You bring up a good point. This thread is about the Meltdown event. If anyone wants to talk about how much they despise the front office, go do it somewhere else. There are at least a dozen threads more applicable than this one.
  11. I didn't even realize a new station launched. My radio hasn't left The Current since the end of the baseball season.
  12. Said the guy whose career isolated discipline was an absurdly high .138.
  13. Concur. He might hold steady to his 2014 numbers but that's the highest ceiling I'd predict for him in 2015. In all likelihood, I expect regression with a rebound coming in late 2015 or the 2016 season.
  14. As long as no money or rewards are handed out, I have no problem with a contest for fun.
  15. I agree on all points. But I'd like to see someone give the Bullpen Ace theory a legitimate shot over a couple of seasons to see if it works. Nobody had a one-inning "closer" before Dennis Eckersley... All it takes is one team to think outside conventional wisdom and test the theory. The other teams will mimic the idea if it's a success.
  16. Somebody has to say it for all the BYTOers out there. GHEEEEET REEEEEADDDDHHHYYY
  17. Zero incentive. A realistic Dozier deal is something around five years, $35-45m ($7-9m per year). That would probably get the job done if the Twins were interested in buying out a FA year (I don't see a reason to buy out more than one under any circumstances... you're already edging into Brian's mid-30s with that deal). I still think he could be had at the upper end of that deal over four years (4/$36m) if he has another good season, which is why I'd probably sit on my hands this offseason and not sign him to an extension.
  18. Please. Please. Please. And I'm not saying that only as a site owner... I'm saying that as someone who is tired of watching MN teams lose.
  19. That was kind of my point. Hughes' extension was a no-brainer compared to Dozier yet I'm not sure I would have pursued that extension either. That's why I wouldn't trip over myself to extend Dozier, though I'm not adamantly against it, either.
  20. A good comp. Of course, Uggla was a butcher with the glove so Dozier projects to retain some defensive value as he ages but the point is a good one.
  21. Oh, I get the reasoning, I just tend to skew on the conservative side... For example, I wouldn't have given Hughes an extension this offseason, either. I don't think it's necessarily a bad move, nor is it one I objected to, I just believe in waiting it out a bit. It will cost you more money on occasion but it also prevents Joe Mays type contracts (not a great comparison, as both Hughes and Dozier are better players than Mays).
  22. Dave, it's the Timberwolves. They'll get no higher than the sixth pick no matter how spectacularly they fall on their face.
