  1. The fact no one in Marlins leadership, from Jeter to Mattingly, put a stop to games this weekend is embarrassing. They’re division rivals and can make up the games with relative ease. There was NO excuse for what happened. Can anyone imagine a well run franchise like the Rays, Twins, Yankees, or Dodgers making the same decision?
  2. He did. Atlanta cancelled the deal, which I still don’t understand. Puig will likely be back in a couple of weeks, plenty of time to get value out of him.
  3. Literally my only worry in this lineup was Arraez and... yeah. He's just as much a professional hitter as he was last season and there's no stopping that kid. He spits on pitches an inch outside the zone and slaps all others into the field. He's on the path to being one of the best pure hitters in baseball.
  4. I listen to several really smart podcasts and I haven't heard anyone really explore this topic in-depth. Unlike previous years, the AL and NL are going to square off in 33% of their games. That's a lot. Except the AL has a monstrous advantage this year, or at least part of the AL has this advantage... a dedicated hitter who rakes well above standard league production with the bat. Over 20 games, how are NL teams going to compete against the teams (like the Twins) that have a 1.000+ OPS hitter already established in the DH position? NL teams didn't have the time or ability to really compensate for this problem (inexplicably, Puig remains unsigned...) and they're going to be pitting .700-ish OPS players against top AL teams that will have .900+ OPS hitters in the same position. I have to imagine that, when this year ends, the interleague numbers are going to be heavily slanted to the AL.
  5. Why this postseason format is trash: Both the Orioles and Tigers, possibly the worst two teams in baseball, are 2-1 after defeating fringe contenders in the Red Sox and Reds and they both did it on the road.
  6. The Tigers took two out of three against the Reds in Cincinnati. Ouch.
  7. This game is slightly more enjoyable to watch than yesterday’s game.
  8. https://www.wbsc.org/news/taiwan-cpbl-gets-green-light-to-fill-stadiums-up-to-70-capacity?fbclid=IwAR0VUoRrhM2UzsrNoph7hg4blnUnNTKJaRW42z4bYPaq8yeIdS2mEGPcMfM It sure would be nice to see a baseball game in person. It sure would be nice if America was a lot smarter about scientific advice.
  9. Ah yes, I was thinking of a previous homer but that was to LF. Still, the second homer was uncatchable.
  10. Those balls landed well into the bullpen. No one catches those.
  11. Pretty much. Dobnak has also benefited from it but Keuchel can hit that spot seemingly at will today.
  12. The Twins aren’t going to score runs as long as Keuchel can spot that ball three inches below the knees and the ump calls it a strike.
  13. All that requires today is getting a ball within eight feet of the plate. This strike zone is ridiculous.
  14. Not a fan of needing to turn to Dobnak for the second game of the season against a competitive division rival, but it's not as if I'm terribly scared of Keuchel, either.
  15. Oh, for sure, but no team as bad as the Orioles or Tigers will make the postseason.
  16. The Sox middle infield is not having a good night.
  17. Arraez doing his best Jeter impression with that throw.
