William Malone Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 Joseph Timothy Bruett was born on October 8, 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Minnesota Twins drafted him in round 11 of the 1988 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut for them on June 3, 1992. Bruett began his career by going 0-for-12 at the plate, but he eventually broke through with his first hit against Jack McDowell of the Chicago White Sox on June 13th. The Twins sent him back down to Triple-A at the end of July. He was called up again when the rosters expanded in September. Bruett played 56 games as a rookie, slashing .250/.313/.303 with two RBI and six stolen bases. He made the Opening Day roster as a backup outfielder, but was sent back down to Triple-A after appearing in just 17 games. Bruett hit .250/.318/.350 with one RBI during this brief stint of action.
