Over the past eight years my interest and enjoyment of MLB has decreased to its lowest level of my lifetime and I have pinpointed it to the ridiculous under usage of starting pitchers.

In 2014 (just ten years ago), we had 34 pitchers go 200 innings or more compared to 4 this year. David Price threw 248.1.

There were 118 complete games as opposed to just 28 this season.

There were 1564 less runs scored in 2014, about 52 less per team.

Just 58 pitchers qualified for the ERA title this year; 88 in 2014.

Personally, I would much rather watch a pitcher pitch until it logically makes sense to take him out.

I'm not asking for us to go back to 1911 where everyone completed everything but as a kid I'd look forward to Pedro vs Clemens or Johan vs sabathia. Randy Johnson is on the mound today? Oh, this is must see TV. Roy halladay? He might go 9!

Now all I can hope for is to see Logan webb go 6.2.

There's been absolutely no research that shows pitchers get hurt with higher pitch counts or reduced workload. I'm just annoyed by what baseball has become.

If anything, pitcher injuries are up. This is all about maximizing velocity. Velocity gets outs but it also limits the pitches thrown in a game and injures arms.
