George Banks was born 9-24-1938 in Pacolet Mills, SC. He was signed in 1957 by the New York Yankees and had minor league success. Banks hit 82 minor league home runs through 1960 (on his way to 223 home runs in 11 minor league seasons). In 1961 the Twins selected him in the Rule 5 draft
