Don't Feed the Greed Guy Verified Member Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 My son and I attended yesterday's intrasquad scrimmage at Hammond Stadium, along with about two dozen other fans. My boy is on Spring Break from college and chose to be a beach bum with his old man, living in a van on Estero Island, rather than doing one hundred other crazy things that college students do. Last time the two of us were in Florida together was two years ago. We arrived at the park for an evening game, only to be turned away at the gate. No more baseball. The Pittsburgh Pirates bus was turned around and headed back to Bradenton. COVID was just entering our collective lexicon. What a contrast. Yesterday our phones blew up midway through the scrimmage. I yelled out, "We have an agreement. Let's play ball!" As for the game, a Bradley Hanner was impressive. He struck out four over two innings, and drew weak contact on two ground balls to first. Filthy stuff. Hanner's previous numbers over two minor league seasons (2019 & 2021) aren't impressive. But you heard it here first, "Don't Sleep on Hanner!" Chase Petty and Marco Raya were solid. Petty blew away two, and his secondary stuff looked good over his two innings. Raya consistently hit the upper 90's on the radar gun, but did give up a two-run shot to Mikey? Perez. Play ball!
