IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Bad jump. No chance. Jim Palmer was speculating it was a hit and run, but Mauer didn't swing because it was too far outside the strike zone. Who knows?
Alex Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Jim Palmer was speculating it was a hit and run, but Mauer didn't swing because it was too far outside the strike zone. Who knows? That's nice of him to make that concession to Hicks, but Mauer has enough bat control to at least put the ball in play even on that.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Maybe... But Hicks stuttered toward first before taking off. Once you do that... Stay put. You won't make it.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Interesting. Palmer thinks Oliva belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Interesting. Palmer thinks Oliva belongs in the Hall of Fame. I'm sure Palmer didn't like facing him.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 It's only five games but damn, this team sure looks better than the 2011 and 2012 editions.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Sorry about the Bauer updates... But his Cleveland debut is interesting. Now Bauer just struck out while batting. Earlier catcher Marson got hurt... DH Santana had to vacate the DH to strap the pads on. So the Bauer has to bat. Hope Gardy doesn't see that.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Interesting. Palmer thinks Oliva belongs in the Hall of Fame.Guys like Oliva stand to gain ground with the gradual shift away from counting stat career totals as the primary yardstick.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 It's only five games but damn, this team sure looks better than the 2011 and 2012 editions. this team will hit... No doubt in my mind. They gotta clean the D up and make it shiny.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 this team will hit... No doubt in my mind. They gotta clean the D up and make it shiny. The D is sloppy but overall, it's better. Plouffe and Dozier look like different players and Escobar/Florimon are much rangier players. Even Parmelee looks okay out there. They're not going to win any awards but if they stop the bone-headed plays, they might even be good.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Good time for a trip to the mound... I sure hope Andy says something smart.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 We're going to need 10 runs tonight.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Tough break... He went and we don't get the call and then a defensive little seeing eye thing.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Some days, the ball just ain't your friend. Luck not on the Twins side this inning.
Alex Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I think there have been two costly missed calls that cost the Twins 3 total runs, both from Jones's at bats: The non-foul ball and the non-strike check swing.
ShaeTwins Provisional Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 We better not lose this game because of the umpiring. 3-2 sounds like a good record to me.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 We better not lose this game because of the umpiring. 3-2 sounds like a good record to me. I couldn't agree with you more. 3-2 sounds like a great record and if we lose... I hope umpiring has nothing to do with it.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Does anyone know Hicks minor league splits are... Off hand.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Does anyone know Hicks minor league splits are... Off hand. The team spent a few years contemplating ending his switch-hitting career, if that tells you anything.
Alex Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Does anyone know Hicks minor league splits are... Off hand. I don't know exactly but 2011 he had a lot of trouble from the left side, which caused a lot of talk to have him move to all righty. Supposedly that changed last year.
Alex Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I've not been on board with Dozier being the answer in the MI, but I gotta say I love how he plays 2B.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Even though he struck out... I was thinking his swing looked better from the right side.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Agreed, Dozier looks pretty comfortable at 2nd base. That diving play against McLouth was really sharp and most runners would have been out.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Just watched the fireworks show after the Miracle game! Time for some twins fireworks.
Alex Verified Member Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Another missed call. I don't normally get down on the umpires, but this has been pretty rough, though they may have missed an out on Doumit earlier when he was trying to get back to first. That may make 3 missed calls by that 1B ump...(two on Doums and check-swing)
