Storylines

1. These two teams have combined for 184 HR's this season and both are #1 and #2 in the American League heading into the contest (NYY #94, MIN #90). Outside of the HR's this series will also feature some of the best bullpens in baseball. Trevor May leads all AL qualified reliever's in ERA (0.39) and Aroldis Chapman leads the AL in saves (16).
2. Last year the Yankees went 4-2 against the Twins in the regular season and we know how the ALDS went. A team that has for so long dominated the Twins, could this finally be the year the Twins defeat the Evil Empire?
3. For the Twins to win they will be relying on some statistical providence heading into the match-up. Kenta Maeda, although averaging 4.1IP per start, is annihilating batters with an absurb K/9 of 13.70. And as u/mightyminnesota pointed out "An MVP catcher in Minnesota? Nah that's crazy talk." Twins fans have fond memories of Joe Mauer winning batting titles and an MVP but lest we forget about Garv Sauce. Slugging a league leading .705, he is currently in the top three of the early MVP poll.
