notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Tonight's episode was between Dick, LaTroy, Hunter and then LaPanta, A.J., and Doug regarding the 2002 ALDS vs Oakland Even though that team did not win a World Series, to me that was the most fun team I've watched. Everything from surviving contraction to finally being relevant again was a thrill to watch. While their memories are a bit faulty at times (Torii thinks Giambi was in that series and they seem to bounce between 2001 and 2002 a lot), they did have some interesting stories. One of the most interesting to me is that they credit Mike Jackson for a galvanizing speech he gave on the plane ride to Oakland for Game 5. Obviously I remember Jackson being on the team but it's interesting that he's credited as being a team leader on that squad. It makes sense in retrospect, but I found that cool, nonetheless. Also, LaTroy discussing Molitor's advance scouting report on Tejada's bat slowing down so don't throw him any breaking balls was really cool to hear about. A.J. calls out Art Howe for not starting Zito twice in the series when he won the Cy Young. It's hard to believe that was already 18 years ago and even harder to believe that's the highlight for this franchise in the past 29 years.
