May the 4th be With You.

Promotion
For those who missed out the first time, I am doing the second round of TWINGO starting tonight and carrying throughout the homestand. I realize without real baseball at Target Field the promotional items fans would get going through the gates are gone so this is my attempt to offer something up besides watching the ballgame. The prize for today's round of TWINGO are the same as last homestand, this shirt from SotaStick (see below).

  • Brief Rules: There will be a link below with 4 cards, chose one and comment in the twitch chat which one you are using before the first pitch of the game. Let's say card #2 is the first winner and 3 people had card #2, I will randomly draw one of the three names who won at the end of the stream. If nobody wins TWINGO prize carries over to next home game.
  • TWINGO Cards, I will not allow you access for safety reasons so either follow along on your phone or print-out before the game. (Cards will be updated around 4:45pm).

Storylines
1. Mitch Garver can tie the Twins all-time record for days in a row with a HR with Frank Howard, (Senators, May 12-18, 1968) if he goes deep tonight.
2. With the Indians losing yet again, the see-saw battle for the Central continues. With the Twins hosting a 6 game home-stand, they'll look to hopefully gain some ground and build a lead on Cleveland.
3. It's May 4th, which means it's Star Wars day at Target Field, we'll have to see if TC Bear dresses up like Chewy again.

Coming into the game there some notable storylines. The back and forth battle atop the AL Central continued with the Indians and Twins while Mitch Garver was one Bomba away from tying the franchise record for home games in a row with a Bomba, one of those things were solved immediately.

The Giants would respond with an RBI triple from Hunter Pence which would then bring up Pablo Sandoval who, coming off of Tommy John in the off-season, was limited to DH roles. As we mentioned in the pre-game this was going to be a high scoring affair, and it was indeed just that.

The Twins would then turn over to the 3rd inning looking to strike while the iron was hot. After leaving runners at 1st and 2nd stranded in the 2nd inning, Eddie Rosario wasn't looking to make that same mistake again.

So the Twins leap frog back into the lead, only for the Giants to even it up with a sca-fly and the game was again tied 4-4 before a routine ground ball to Donaldson ende....

So instead of ending the inning the Giants once again retake the lead 5-4 in what has been arguably the most back and forth game all year. The Giants seeming to at will come back on Minnesota and this surely boasted for a tight stressful game.

Cruz would enter the scoring and the Twins now again had taken the lead 6-5. But the nice thing about this one for Minnesota, from here they would never look back.

Twins (20-15) WIN 16-5 over the Giants (13-22)
