I went to the Angels day game in May and he was hitting like .140 to start the game. Got a couple hits that game and has never looked back.

I don't expect a big hit every time the bases are loaded but there's only so many times you can come up virtually empty in these situations.  These guys are better than that.

In this context "safety" was meant to avoid a double play which would have prompted TD posters to spend 3 pages on the dour state of Twins hitters with the bases juiced

 

In reality it would have safely kept us from having to watch that Castro AB
