Has anyone ever seen the televised Homerun Derby that featured top Homerun hitters in baseball? There were 3 Senators who played for the Twins in 1961 including Killebrew, Jim Lemon and Bobby Allison. The derby was filmed in Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. The winner won $2000 and played the next session. Killebrew appeared on 4 sessions, Allison 3, and Lemon 2. The players talk to the announcer when they aren’t batting. You get to see them in a different light. Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Banks, etc. as well.

Your welcome. You can follow the links to all of the Homerun Derby shows, not just that one. Search on youtube. This one was close.

They used to air these after school when I was in grade school (89-90ish).  Then they ended up on Classic Sports Network that was eventually bought out by ESPN and branded ESPN Classic where I think episodes still air in the early mornings from time to time.   We'd play wiffleball in the backyard and use the real derby rules from the show.

I own all of the episodes on DVD. Hank was the all-time winner in the competition and made more money one offseason between that and one commercial than his entire season's paycheck.
