I remember thinking after that signing that the guy served zero purpose to this team. Last year was a fluke stats dont lie. Doesnt have speed or defensive abilities. Strikes out a ton. 

 

Statistical averages of .244 13 hrs, 43 rbi and 2 sb's plus 30 years old. No thanks

I genuinely think we would be better off shifting Eddie to 3rd and having Sano DH with Gordon coming up to play short.

Inconsistent ball/strike calling today.

Doesn't help when LoMo is swinging at pitches a foot inside.

These one year guys that strike out a ton and had a breakout year in the power department during a flukey power year raise red flags for me anyways.

Indians got all world hitter 1b/dh type

Yonder Alonso and we got Swiss cheese Logan Morrison. Cleveland being aggressive in FA and us waiting around was a Huge Loss for us in that regard (but only in this case)

Alonso is incredibly similar to Morrison - both had breakout seasons in 2017, except had had next to zero power before the 2017 season (his previous high was 9 HRs! Even Mauer has more power than him!). Just looking at the stats, Morrison has been a better hitter than Alonso over his career. One week of bad baseball in 2018 means very little in the grand scheme of things.
