Ummmm ... sigh ... still no Garver ... but where to slot him in the lineup when your outfield is doing well, Sano is DHing and both Esco and Polanco are hitting; I guess they don't want him catching Berrios.

I'm ok with Garver not getting his first action against a RH pitcher, and Greinke at that.

 

If I had to guess, I'd also guess they don't think much of his catching...that would explain a lot.

 

In any case, might want to pitch a gem tonight, Jay-Oh.  I don't see the Twins scoring 10 tonight.

On the Dbacks pregame show, one of the broadcasters (Todd Walsh) named Target Field as "in his top five in all of the major leagues."

 

Nice.

 

Also--on a dare--he signed off from "St Paul, Minneapolis"  rather than the other way around.  I like it when visiting broadcasters have a sense of the place they're visiting.

My friend Ashbury was visiting recently, but didn’t believe that Buxton could talk. So Ash asked him, “What’s on top of a house?”

Ash wasn’t convinced. So he asked Buxton how sandpaper feels.

 

“Rough.”

 

Ash had a bemused look on his face..."I think I see what you're trying to pull, here, Chief.  But OK,  I'll play along.  He turned to Buxton and, with a wry smile, asked "O.K., who was the greatest baseball player of all time?” 

 

“Ruth.”

 

With that, Ash gave us a little courtesy laugh, and walked away.

 

Buxton looked up and me and said "He's one of them saber guys, isn't he.  I should have said Bonds."
