Jotting on a Late-Season Napkin

All season, my response thought has been – ride the success as long as it rides, but don’t lose out on 2018 as the focus. So now, while it’s too early for the Off-Season Blueprint, how about a Late-Season Back of the Napkin?

I’d love to see someone take a shot at inventorying what we’ve got on hand. Could someone give an itemized list of what we would spend (with arbitration estimates) on this list?

C: Castro and Garver

Corner: Mauer, Sano and Vargas.

Middle: Dozier, and two of three of Polanco, Adrianza, and Escobar.

OF: Buxton, Kepler, Rosario, Grossman, Granite.

SP: Santana, Berrios, Mejia, May and somebody else in the system.

RP: Hughes and a logical seven based on those in the system.

Other: Build in anyone that we are committed to that I’ve forgotten about. It would be nice to have estimates on some of what seems like non-tender candidates (Gibson comes to mind).

Given that there are only two team unfriendly contracts (Mauer and Hughes) and only a handful that are more than a couple million (Castro, Dozier, Santana), don’t we have the ability to take on quite a bit money in the offseason, particularly on the pitching side?
