So much for Mejía. Another example of why ST numbers don't matter.

Are you implying Mejia isn't a good pitcher?

Bad days happen. Really fluky inning, IMO. The stuff is there for this kid (hitting 95 from the left side with good offspeed stuff).

As far as the rest of this year goes, I'll take him over anyone else the Twins can run out there, with the exception of Santana.

Notice Mejia actually got his form back as soon as he had to hold a runner on first. Why? He'd been rushing it. Allen should have told him after Frasier to slow down the tempo.

I was taught that the number one rule of a rundown is that if you don't get the out, don't let the runner advance.

Man, I hate getting caught in a rundown. Getting the tire tracks off my back is impossible.

Could just as easily be an example of why performance in one appearance doesn't matter.

I'm as negative as anyone. But, one fluky inning and wind blown fly ball (from Garcia), and the sky is falling.

If Sano didn't choke away that first inning by K'ing looking, then botching the rundown, this may be a tie game right now.

There's a guy on the mound for them who can't touch 90. This is by no means over.

Player: Okay skipper, what's our hitting approach today?

Molitor: You know all the patience you guys showed over the first few games? Well, we were just kidding. I want you to go out there today and swing at everything, no matter what junk Gonzalez throws you.

Player: Right skip. I'll go tell the guys!

I'd agree that we can't judge Meija by this outing. Probably the fluky at-bat by the strikeout-prone Frazier took a lot out of him. With as many two-strike pitches that he threw, you'd think he could have gotten a K or two. Sano botched the rundown and that probably finished him.

That play was unreal.

Some diving stops are exaggerated, and unnecessary. But, that was legit, and definitely took what should have been a hit away.

Sano did that rundown so badly, I can hardly tell you. Daddy taught me in 4th grade how to do rundowns. Ball high, wrist back, run hard, stick your fingers at the receiver's eyes. One throw only, or you're doing it wrong. Both fielders close the trap.

My Daddy just gave me the keys to his truck.  He said it's much easier to rundown people that way....

I'm at work, so "watching" the game on ESPN boxscore. Let's all do a mind-meld and convince Mr. Sano to hit ball hard, not strike out.

EDIT: Hope he doesn't get caught in a rundown.

What's the deal with the Chisox catcher?  Don't know if he's falling over or trying out for the Chicago shot put team.  His throws back to the mound are embarrassing.   Which I'm OK with   ;)
