Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 First game is in the books for ESPN's best kept secret, the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. And what a nap it was! Pretty embarrassing showing from team Minnesota against the minor Europeans. Lots of questions there. Why is "100%" Zach Parise playing? Where in the world is Phil Kessel? Tortorella is the coach? For real? Team Europe is very very very very old, but probably a lot more respectable than I would have assumed. Any team with Anze Kopitar is at least worth a second guess. The ESPN team felt compelled to remind us how much fun they were having. Good for them. Hopefully the other games are a lot more interesting. I'll be watching the Young Guns for sure. I like their chances to win. In terms of speed and skill, I don't think anyone can touch them. The tournament continues tonight at 6:30, so I'll be tuned in for the broadcast on...ESPN News? What's going on here?

What's going on here? The US only seems to show up for games when they play Canada, which they likely will again with their backs against the wall on Tuesday. Good luck though, pretty thorough stomping of the Czechs today. It's not everyday you win 6-0 and the the opposition goalie still stops 44 shots. Carey Price runs his SO streak in International play to 224 minutes. Tortarella is the reason Kessel isn't on the US team, that decison and Torts being the coach are both insane.

At least not yet.I'm with you, honestly I could give a crap so far. Just start the NHL season already. For as little as I care, I hope team NA wins. Let the kids show em who's boss.

Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Geez Louise. Does Barry hate Russians or what?
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 But seriously, this game is sweet.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Okay! I'm back in! That young guns - Russia game was one of the better tilts I can recall. This is going to be fun after all.

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Win or go home for the Americans tonight, should be a pretty edgy affair with a lot on the line. I like it. Oh, and as I believe I've mentioned previously..........Suck it Kesler!!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Well the only chance they had was if Quick stood on his head.......he didn't, 3 goals on 5 shots, ouch! So much for this rivalry. Who put this US team together, with the sole purpose of beating Canada? It's shocking they thought this team and style was going to be able to do that.
GCTF Verified Member Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Maybe they should've set the bar higher than John ****ing Tortorella. Or to level the playing field Canada could bring back Mike Keenan.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 1996 called, they want their team back.

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Well we won and all, but what a non event of a tournament. I think I celebrated for as long as it takes to have a sip of beer.
jackthomas Provisional Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I am a big fan of this game , I am also a player
