ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Twins not too RISP-y today. Oh-for-four with runners in scoring position so far.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Santana pitching well today after pitching well against Texas... I wonder if he's showcasing himself for a trade? You gotta think he wants off this team and to be traded to a contender like Texas. He's 33 and won;'t be around that many more years to try to be on a Championship team. This may be one of those rare occurrences where the team's interest and the player's interest in trading him are in sync.Could be part of it. But they also said he's been working with the pitching coach not unlike what he did last year after a rough patch then improved.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 DanSan gets a gift single. Lowrie really non-chalanted that one - didn't feel like diving and making a short flip to first, apparently.

It would be nice to hear more about that. If Berrios looks up to Santana that might be something to build on.(of course it might not, but it might)
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I don't know if I ever saw Sonny Gray pitch before. He's wee little - the 5'10" listed on b-r.com seems possibly generous. Sonnnnnnny Gray, everything's A-OK! http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/323c36b99d823ab7da9e3885c35db9f1d32db25a/c=2-0-1000-750&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/2016/01/20/Phoenix/Phoenix/635889179552960226-Characters.png
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Not only is Danny Santana one of the least performing guys in the majors, he is somehow simultaneously one of the luckiest.

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 We are now jinx free and able to discuss the PERFECT GAME Santana had been pitching (through 4 2/3)

ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 A's announcers apparently CAN jinx an opponent's pitcher.
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 My main gripe with DanSan playing SS is that it pushes Nunez to 3rd, Sano to DH, and Vargas to the bench. After seeing Vargas look great yesterday I don't know why on earth you'd effectively replace him with Santana in the lineup instead of seeing if he can get into a groove.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 A's announcers apparently CAN jinx an opponent's pitcher. That seems like cheating, no? Moli should play the remainder of the game under protest.

He's had two good days at the plate sandwiched between 3 off days out of 5 games. I realize that he may be sore, but he should be out there building on those good days with the bat. I don't know if that is Moli's decision or what, but it would be nice to see him keep that groove.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 What happened to the days of chalantness?when Oakland first picked up Lowrie, they really liked his eptitide....

Not sure if that was by design or if it just was. Did a lot of their work together.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Didn't somebody just post about Mauer being on a career-low pace for doubles? Guess he took offense and decided to show the world.

Did a lot of their work together. This is the way it should be. Smart rookies should sit down with the veterans and learn everything they can from them. Great to see a kid doing that regardless.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 If only there were Mulligans in baseball.http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl/player_search.cgi?search=mulligan
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Is it allowed to be positive about DanSan? Or are we considering that not negative?A double negative makes it a positive. You need to duck now...
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Patented Mauer double gives the Twins the lead!
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Mauer produces a run!Guy's always been money.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl/player_search.cgi?search=mulliganFair enough. Should I change it to "currently in baseball"?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Mauer produces a run!Huzzah! I confess, i was hoping the run would become the runs, but we are not yet so fortunate...

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 No TV again??I believe every weekday day game will be non-televised for the rest of the way unfortunately. Barring national coverage anyway. I'm sure the nation is dying to watch this team.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Guy's always been money. There you go, making it about Mauer's contract again....
