Santana pitching well today after pitching well against Texas... I wonder if he's showcasing himself for a trade? You gotta think he wants off this team and to be traded to a contender like Texas. He's 33 and won;'t be around that many more years to try to be on a Championship team. This may be one of those rare occurrences where the team's interest and the player's interest in trading him are in sync.

Could be part of it. But they also said he's been working with the pitching coach not unlike what he did last year after a rough patch then improved.

DanSan gets a gift single. Lowrie really non-chalanted that one - didn't feel like diving and making a short flip to first, apparently.

when Berrios was up (Jose Berrios, a prospect in the Twins system for those who aren't familiar) anyway when Berrios was up, I swear I saw Santana and Berrios sitting together constantly. It would be nice to hear more about that. If Berrios looks up to Santana that might be something to build on.(of course it might not, but it might)

I don't know if I ever saw Sonny Gray pitch before. He's wee little - the 5'10" listed on b-r.com seems possibly generous.

Not only is Danny Santana one of the least performing guys in the majors, he is somehow simultaneously one of the luckiest.

Sometimes it pays to be more lucky than good.

My main gripe with DanSan playing SS is that it pushes Nunez to 3rd, Sano to DH, and Vargas to the bench. After seeing Vargas look great yesterday I don't know why on earth you'd effectively replace him with Santana in the lineup instead of seeing if he can get into a groove.

This is similar to my gripe about Buxton.  He's had two good days at the plate sandwiched between 3 off days out of 5 games.  I realize that he may be sore, but he should be out there building on those good days with the bat.  I don't know if that is Moli's decision or what, but it would be nice to see him keep that groove.

They were together during ST, too. Not sure if that was by design or if it just was. Did a lot of their work together.

This is the way it should be.  Smart rookies should sit down with the veterans and learn everything they can from them.  Great to see a kid doing that regardless.

I'm sure there was some design in it, too, whether from above, or ESan just took to him, or whatevs. But yeah.

I believe every weekday day game will be non-televised for the rest of the way unfortunately.

 

Barring national coverage anyway.  I'm sure the nation is dying to watch this team.
