Saw 34 innings in DC. Stick a fork in this team.

We went to all three games in DC where I live.  This team sucks.  Don't let anyone tell you the day-game shadows had anything to do with it.  The pitcher was in the same light as the batter for all of game 2 and 13 innings of game 3. We're the only team that makes Tanner Roark into Pedro Martinez. We didn't even sniff third base in Game 2, which will go down as the most boring game I've ever watched. In game 3, we felt totally vindicated after Dozier's dinger, vindicated enough to tell off some nosy Nats fans nearby. Gut-wrenching to watch May give up 5 line drives right after that, 3 of which fell in for hits.  We didn't string together quality at-bats like that with solid contact all series. Buxton made several plays in center that Rosario doesnt make, and without him we lose that game in 9-innings.

Molitor was clearly having a tough time deciding when to let pitchers hit (particularly in game 1). It seems like Bruno is telling the guys to look fastball only and take anything else. But Sano can't even hit the fastball (much less Buxton, seeya in June). Furthermore, the number of offspeed pitches for strikes is way up in this league, especially the NL. That approach ain't working. And don't even get me started on John Ryan Murphy.  Didn't anyone tell our pitchers that you can't spike a breaking ball to that guy?  I don't think he's stopped one this year.  Also what the heck is he doing trying to be a hero on that bunt?

Highlight of the weekend was meeting the lobbyists from the Iron Range coal union. Nice guys!  I've been a Twins fan for 29 of my 29 years on this earth and I could care less about any other Minnesota sports team or really sports in general. This is a poorly constructed roster with an out-of-touch GM that is squandering its talent and celebrating mediocrity.  Even through all the Tom Kelly years in the mid-to-late 90s and Gardenhire's 4-year swansong of sucking, I've never had my fandom for this team tested as much as I did this weekend.  Watching this team quit like it did Sunday night was rock-bottom for me.  I'm gonna need a few weeks before I can pay attention again.
