Worrying about double plays as a statistic makes little sense. Each year, some really good hitters are on the DP leaderboard. Why? They hit the ball pretty hard and have runners on in front of them. They're just part of it.

The one question that needed to be asked, was not:  Packer's fan?

 

I think that Walker is at the Steve Balboni - Jay Buhner line.  If his K rate continues to climb, if he does not take any walks, and his defense does not make any strides, he will be more like Balboni.   If he makes a decent improvement in all will be more like Buhner.  That's his ceiling.  Not that bad.  But we are not talking Sano here.  We are not even talking Vargas, as a matter of fact (other than defense.)

 

Balboni and Buhner both played 12+ years and had MVP caliber seasons during those decades (earned votes).  Walker is a better athlete than both and his defense isn't that bad.  His throwing can be more consistent, but that should be a workable fix.  Besides I'll take Buhner's .852 career OPS.  You're right not a bad ceiling.
