Is Medlen the right-handed Tommy Milone?

Just imagining those guys back-t0-back in a Braves rotation.

Maddening for hitters, if they're on.

Go good guys, hopefully they can win but not feeling real confident about Mike Pelfrey pitching to night. Pelfrey's starts have been anything but good the last 4 weeks.

Kind of glad to see Plouffe getting the night off hope he gets about 2 or 3 more before he get's back. Plouffe is pulling off the baseball instead of driving through the ball and finishing all the way through with his back swing, he is pulling away from it by cutting off his swing short  and beating everything in to the ground right now.

Think he is trying to overcompensate for struggling to catch up with the fastball and lack of hitting, slightly fatigued mentally, but that is speculation on my part. Dude looks like he could use a couple three days rest and needs to clear his mind.

I'm a Plouffe fan but all of these double plays and strikeouts lately are hurting this team.

Sit the Cold guys... Play Someone Else who may not be cold. Waiting for the cold guy to snap out of it by playing him over and over again is unnecessary.

(ugh) When you put it in small letters and parenthesis around it. It means "Alright... One of top 5 hitters all year is finally in the lineup.

So Yeah I'm with you. (ugh)

Top 5 hitter... Batting 6th. A sort of logic there. Lyin' in the weeds for the ambush.

Makes sense to me. Now if only they throw top 5 pitches, and he'll hit 'em . Alas, he only saw 4 pitches. Makes me think he'll clobber the first thing he sees next time up.

So we've waited through four long years for the Twins to be playing meaningful September games.

All this waiting...Reminds me of my HS prom.

I wanted to rent a tux, so I went to the tux rental place.  LOOONG line, as everyone had the same idea, but I waited in line, and waited in line, and eventually got my tux.

Same thing at the flower store...long line.  I waited, and waited, but was able to get the perfect corsage.

Then I went to the limo agency, and of course...long line.  I waited and waited.

Finally I had everything perfectly set up, and I went to pick up my date.  We went to the prom, and she wanted to dance, so we did.  That made her thirsty, so she asked me for some punch.

I made my way all the way across the gym to where the punch table was set up, dreading what I figured would be yet another long wait.

But, surprise!

I went all that way, and no punchline.

Yes.

(obligatory)

I think Sarcaste would appreciate proper capitalization of that which pertains to his philosophy...

Sarcaste?  Ick!

Just getting in, Pelf with a clean 1st- how about that.

I've ripped him a ton on this thread, tho, not him personally, but the way he's been used.  The Twinks got a run of good starts out of him, and he should have had a couple of more wins with a modicum of support.  But, he should have been in the pen all year long, and it's an easy call.  Between that issue, and the Esco issue, I have no doubt we'd be in a far better place playoff potential-wise.

But I digress.  My point is that, although Pelf has not done well in his starts for a long while now, I have to give the guy major props.  He battled his way back from what is for many a career-ending injury.  EVen came back nearly a year earlier than expected for most people who've had TJ, and he worked his butt off to do it.  For that, I salute the guy wholeheartedly.  There's no denying he's got talent, and there's really no denying he's got cojones.

The issue, though, lies in the unrealistic expectations put on him by the club.  They made the right call when they originally dropped him to the pen in favor of May, but then, with the injury and ineffectiveness issues, they went back on that.  He also expressed in no uncertain terms his unhappiness with it, and that, I think, was another key factor in the Twinks knuckling under.  They shouldn't have.  Someone made a great point in the Pelf-being-replaced thread, about his stuff getting barreled up 2nd or 3rd time through- shoot, sometimes even 1st time through!  But velocity and movement wise, he would be so much more effective facing guys only once.  Yeh, his ego was bruised, and he worked hard to get back to starting, but the obvious choice was the pen, and the Twins should have stuck to it.

Hats off to Pelf's effort.  A big, fat, season-long raspberry to Molly and TR for not giving him and the team the best chance to use his talent and drive.

Did you hear about the beavers that went south to avoid the winter?

Does everyone realize Medlen has a perfect game through three?

A perfect game!  How about that.  Not a single base runner.

Perfect games are pretty rare.

Is it just me (entire board responds "Yes" without waiting for the question), or does the crazy old "Sweet Daddy" guy in the casino ad seem a little bit like Wilford Brimley on meth?

No one is talking about the game but nothing is much happenng. I am just wondering why the Twins have a .269 singles hitter at DH? Does the salary dictate this? Opposing managers and pitchers just have to love this.. I realize Sano is banged up, but banged up he still far far more dangerous.

Twins using the patient approach tonight I see.

I believe it was fatcrapps that once coined the phrase, patience is a virtue.

In a couple of days his average will be over .270 again, and it will all make sense.
