Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 I don't ever recall Hammer trying for the extra base with the Twins. And maybe him getting out there is why.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 And maybe him getting out there is why.It took a perfect throw... The best teams push it. The worst teams get called out.
GCTF Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Fine use of emotion with those exclamation marks, GCTF! I was scolded yesterday for my lack of exclamation marks. Plus Gardy was coming through loud and clear on the radio broadcast.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Bad at-bat for Plouffe. Pretty good one for Parm.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I thought Perez caught Mauer's foul tip cleanly, but the replay was inconclusive.Blasphemer!
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 This isn't coed softball! A non revere center fielder needs to make that throw every time!But... they don't.
Intramural Legend Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 But... they don't.I will also say I believe the rule of thumb is that you never make the first or third out at third base
B Richard Provisional Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Loving all these grounders for May

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I will also say I believe the rule of thumb is that you never make the first or third out at third baseThat was before Sabermetrics It used to be... Don't make the 1st out at third because the guy at the plate can move you to third and don't make third out at third because a single can score you from 2nd. Since Sabermetrics... That's all out the window. Now... You don't want to make an out at anytime... Ever. Research suggests that you score more if you don't make an out.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I hope whoever was behind that research was promoted!No.. He wasn't... His boss took all the credit. He's working on his next big idea. Research that proves that your golf score improves if you stay out of the woods and water. And research that proves that Ice Cream tastes good.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 So.. I'm looking at Twins Player stats for 2014. Escobar and Mauer are very similar.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I realize it's scoreless into the 5th, but when did May become a 90-92 MPH pitch-to-contact guy?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 While checking Minneapolis radar. I widened it out... And noticed an impressive storm rolled thru the Fond Du Lac area. I'm guessing high winds and flooding. I'm no meteorologist but I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express either.

big dog Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 He's giving up a heck of a lot of walks for someone you characterize as pitch-to-contact.
Intramural Legend Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 He's giving up a heck of a lot of walks for someone you characterize as pitch-to-contact.He is clearly trying to perfect the "effectively wild" thing that Dick always talks about...
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 We need Steinbach to get tossed now.
