Low Round Draft Choice Makes Good

Many are talking about the potential recall of AJ Achter to the Twins. He was a 46th round draft choice out of Michigan State. Here's his story:

If Nolasco has a short start tomorrow, Achter or Pino would be prime candidates for a recall since both of them can go multiple innings.

Darnell and Johnson are on the roster- and Pressly and Tonkin are as well, as much as both Achter and Pino seem deserving, it seems likely a rostered player is going to get the call first. It seems the Twins are saving the Pelfrey spot for just the right moment- until Meyer's stumble on Friday night, I was hoping that he was going to claim that roster spot...it's only natural to wonder if there might be something wrong with Meyer.

Achter's rise up through the ranks is true testament to not ignoring the potential impact of the late round picks, especially the pitchers.

Thanks for the link, jokin.

So many dreams for these young players. I look forward to seeing A.J. in mlb in the not-so-distant future.
