It took Yangervis Solarte eight years to reach the majors. It took him a week to return.

It seemed like everyone in the Yankees' clubhouse was smiling when Solarte walked into it Thursday afternoon. Derek Jeter bro-hugged him. Zoilo Almonte went in for the real thing. Jacoby Ellsbury gave him a fist pound.......

Solarte went 12-for-20 playing for Scranton with four extra-base hits and five RBI. He credited his revival to becoming more aggressive, hacking at first-pitch fastballs the way he did at the start of the year.

 

The results earned Solarte a phone call at 12:30 a.m. Thursday to catch a 10:00 a.m. flight to Cleveland.

Nice Yankee trade to derive value from marginal players/fringe prospects. Headley's HR bat might come alive in the friendly Yankee Stadium dimensions, plus an upgrade on defense. Makes you wonder what kind of package you can get for someone like Dozier.

The Headley trade shouldn't be looked at what kind of package can X player get. This is a straight up salary dump of a struggling player that is becoming a FA in the offseason.

But this really isn't a reason. SD made this move to dump Headley and save money before he becomes a FA. I think they would have taken most anyone in return.

 

Headley is an excellent buy low this offseason. If the Twins didn't have sano coming soon or if they didn't plan to keep him at 3B he would be a great target.
