  1. I think this thread is spot on with the lack of interest. We need to hope for a vacancy to pop up due to injury or just pure panic. Along with that, we need to hope Dozier goes on a power surge well before the deadline to show that he is just a second half guy. Then, we still will likely need to pigs to fly and chickens to lay golden eggs to get a deal worth doing. Looks like we may just need to pencil Dozier in the lineup for a while. Does Gordon have the arm to play 3rd? Not ideal with his lack of prototypical 3rd base power but is it better to put him there and Sano to 1st instead of trading Dozier for a bag of baseballs and a guy that runs a pretty solid hot dog stand?
  2. In a perfect world, you would be able to leverage that cheapness of the contract with the years and talent. Find a suitor that has a NOW window for 2-4 years and pluck a HighA/AA prospect in the top 50 plus a piece or two more. This would likely be the best value creation possible and they have a darn nice #3 or #4 for a deep playoff run for a couple years. I think a team would value that highly enough to give up a high upside prospect that still has enough to prove. I think this would fit our timeline as well. Berrios looks like he can be a 1/2 of the future. Gonsalves and Romero are TBD but would like to think 2-4 is a range for them. #1 pick will hopefully factor in this conversation in 2-3 years. Anything we get from this would hopefully be ready to join the roto when this team is "HOPEFULLY" hitting full stride. If I am a contending team and I have the option to role Santana out as a #3/4 for a late season/playoff run... Im fairly happy with that and willing to sacrifice a high upside arm for a couple runs at a CHIP
  3. Do we have 3 good starters? Any shut down arms in the Pen? I would argue hitter are doing better than expected and thus are at risk for mean reversion. This is not a title team, its as simple as looking at their record versus top teams compared to bottom. We feast on the lowly teams and get feasted on by the real teams. Perfect definition of average, common, best of the lousiest, lousiest of the best
  4. Couldn't agree more. It is the weighted return scenario. Is Santana likely to be relevant when this team is ready to compete for a WS run, if ever? Likely not. But he is a nice piece to mentor these young starters while providing a consistency that is hard to come by when trying to groom young starters. It keeps the twins relevant but doesn't push the needle IMO. If we get a deal that is hard to pass up, dont. I think the Twins have a luxury with Santana that is as simple as trade him if the value is there. If not, keep him because he has value for us. We are no longer in the position that we need to get value for anything that is above average on our roster because we are 25 games back and miles from contention. Feels kinda nice for once. We might be able to have nice things here.
  5. So..... The twins are just slow playing us and really are going to take Greene right???? (I won't tell anyone, I can keep a secret) Passing on Greene scares me. A super athletic kid that can do anything and the one knock is his offspeed? I have a feeling that the kid can learn offspeed when its his full time job. Would profile as a perfect MN sports team gaffe to add to the board though.
  6. I may be in the minority here, but I think this is completely counter productive. We need to be real here. This run is fun and exciting coming off a 100+ loss season that gave us the #1 pick, but we still have a long road ahead and still have a tough time seeing us in the playoffs this year. Even if we sneak in, the Astros showed us what is likely to happen given that shot. So what does this move really accomplish in the long run? I would rather see us test some of the prospects down the stretch and see what we really have in that regard. I don't see a lot of value in Dyson other than a stop gap to building a legitimate bullpen. It's even less knowing that we have to give something up for him.
  7. Fair, but plan F & G move real quick to A & B if we learn more about these guys as fast as we can. Main point in my mess of a thought dump there was why are we not seeing a real thought process on these prospects. Bard & Curtiss each have >1.5k/IP @ AA. This indicates to me that we need to see if AAA presents a different challenge. These guys become A&B in my mind if they can show the same dominance. Plus, lets be honest, I stop watching the game during the opponents half of the inning once the starter leaves. Im selfish, I wanna see some real fire power in this pen. Give me some guys that can get punch outs. The arms so far are quite uninspiring. This is about me.
  8. Can someone help me out in understanding this FO at this point? Breslow Belisle Wimmers Vs. Bard Curtiss Melotakis Reed - I know he just came back I wouldn't be as perplexed if we were seeing some upward movement indicating that they were prepping these 4 guys for a stretch run, enabling us to not have to trade for a reliever. Why is it that Curtiss is wasting time putting up video game numbers in AA and the others at least provide some electricity in the form of intimidating stuff. I'm not a great baseball mind, but inspire me as a fan here and show me that you at least understand that these 4 pen arms are likely the only way we can hope to turn the bullpen into an asset for contention later in the year. Just seems like this FO is shoulder shrugging and saying that their are arms blocking these guys from progressing forward and showing the MLB club what they got. Maybe I am missing something.
  9. Can the AAA & AA prospects (real prospects) be much worse? What do we really have to lose at this point. I know I would be entertained by a group of kids throwing 96+ out of the pen.
  10. Clever. I feel inclined to answer this, but I feel as if it deserves to stand alone. Respect
  11. This three game stretch has to be some sort of record for futility.... 6.2 innings - 22 ER - 29.7 ERA Wish I could say I never saw a bullpen implosion coming..... See, we didnt need Greg Holland
  12. Because I am a Minnesota sports fan..... Misery loves company and this team is sure not to disappoint.... or is sure to disappoint, works either way. Ever wonder what it would be like to have no complaints about your favorite teams? Circa Boston 2008. Seems like a boring time.
