Report: Twins To Sign LHP J.A. Happ
Strato Guy replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like this move only if they acquire one more starter that is as good or better than Odorizzi. On a team that wants to be a force in the playoffs, we need someone better than Happ. I feel he will only be our the #4 starter. -
Tesla's story reminds me of Dr. Royal Rife. He invented an amazing machine that was curing cancer in the 1930's! His works were suppressed and he ultimately became a drunk. Why do I bring this up? Because I firmly believe that better health for players is like the final frontier for teams to improve their team! To my knowledge, I do not know any team that is using amazing health machines like the Rife to improve the teams health and improve productivity on the field. Perhaps even better is the Life Vessel machine. Who even knows about these types of machines?! They are perfectly legal, but the information has been suppressed.

A Tortoise or the Rake? Minnesota’s Final Player
Strato Guy commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
There is a chance both players make the team because there may be a player injured to begin the year. Remember, there were few times throughout last year where everyone was available. There will probably be ample playing time for both. A trade is also a possibility which could impact whom is on the team.- 28 comments

Based on his contract, there is no doubt why he wants to be a starter. I believe that the Dodgers may have pitched him in relief some to save them money paying for some of the incentives.

If I am not mistaken, I thought I read somewhere that Maeda's contract could potentially reach 10 M each year with incentives. Still not an excessive amount of money for being productive.

This trade will help us this year and maybe a couple after that. But Graterol is a steep price to pay. Not sure if I like this trade or not at this point. I would feel a little better if Maeda was 2 or 3 years younger. He will be 32 in April.

4 Options for Twins' Final Bench Spot
Strato Guy replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Rosario does get traded, a possibility would be to get Maybin to platoon with Cave. He is still a decent player and along with Cave could be a cheap bridge until one of their prospects are ready. That hopefully would be next year. -
I like the lineup against righties! For lefties, I would choose to keep Arraez batting first. Either having Garver or Donaldson batting 2nd, I believe, would be better than Polanco, whom is not as good against lefties. Why not keep Donaldson 2nd with Garver hitting 4th. Keep in mind the new rule change that a relief pitcher needs to pitch to 3 batters.

Remaining Free Agents (and why they won't sign here)
Strato Guy commented on scottz's blog entry in Catching Some Zs
so you saying we have a chance -
The Twins have not signed an elite SP because they would have to overpay to do so. I understand that and agree with it. I am afraid they would need to overpay to secure Donaldson as well. A 4 year deal is a deal breaker in my eyes. He is getting up there in age and he has had a history of injuries as well. I thought that signing Gregorious would have been a better signing than Donaldson. As good as defensively as the Donald is, Didi arguably would have a deeper impact on the defense. SS is the more important defensive position and it would have allowed Polanco to move to 2B and Arraez to 3B. Didi signed for "only" 14 M. If the Twins had signed him, that would have allowed more money for pitching than if they sign Donaldson. Oh well, that ship has sailed. On to plan B or C or whatever plan they are on now.

Plan B: Dallas Keuchel and Josh Donaldson
Strato Guy commented on Nash Walker's blog entry in The Special Season
While the Twins have a very obvious need to improve their starting pitching, it looks likes the big guns are going to be out of their price range. So on to Plan B. I like Donaldson and Keuchel, That would be a solid plan B. Since they probably will not be able to acquire that stud SP, it would also be a good idea if the Twins improve the pen. How about adding Treinen! I think there is a very good chance he returns to dominance. Maybe not the kind of year he had in 2018, but excellent, nonetheless. Another infielder that would be a great fit is Gregorious. I think he would improve the defense even more than Donaldson. In this scenario the infield would probably look like this: Arraez at 3B, Didi at SS, Polanco at 2B Sano at 1B. Planco is faster than Arraez to play 2B and I think that would be his best infield position defensively. The thing I do not know is what the contracts would need to be for Didi and Donaldson. That is going to play a big factor. I would be more than happy with either of them. -
A SP is an obvious need, but they also need an infielder and Donaldson would be a great choice. That would help their infield defense, which is below average. Another way to improve the defense is to get a SS. How about Gregorius? He is an awesome defender and can hold his own with the bat. I think an infield of Arraez at 3B, Didi at SS, Polanco at 2B and Sano at 1B would be a better infield than what they had last year. I think 2B would be Polanco's best defensive position and he would have more range than Arraez. Thoughts? I have not heard much about what it might take to sign Didi.

Yet Another 2020 Blueprint: Wheeler and Ray, Let's Play!
Strato Guy commented on Long Live La Tortuga's blog entry in Long Live La Tortuga
Overall, I like the blueprint. I do think, however, that paying $22.475 million on the bench is a little excessive. -
No, Chicago actually sung about that odd double play that happened that Saturday in the Park, "25 or 6 to 4".

I do not think that Cron is worth the money that he would get paid. He is a below average hitter vs righties for 1B. He mauls lefties, but the Twins hit lefties well. I see Cron, on a good hitting team, getting only about 350 at bats, playing against lefties and occasionally against righties. If he was better against righties and better defensively, then he would be worth the money. If you didn't notice, he was pretty much a platoon player down the stretch.

The Twins Ideal Adds on the Trade Market
Strato Guy commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
I would be more than happy if they could get Wheeler and Foltynewicz. The elite free agents like Cole would be extremely hard to sign. Very unlikely to happen. Folty could end up being a real steal!- 5 comments

To me, Cron is a 300 AB player. He is very good against LH pitchers, but average at best against righties. I think we can find someone to fill his spot at less cost. The Twins may sign someone on a 1 year contract, but Sano may switch over to 1B. Also, Rooker and Kirilloff are knocking on the doorstep.

Does anyone here remember the conversation Paul Molitor had with Gibson on the mound in the summer of 2017? Gibson was pitching that day much like he had the first half of the year. He was not having a good year and was nibbling too much. At least, as memory serves, Moliy thought so and chewed him out on a trip to the mound. Molly was much more animated than usual, so you could see something unusual was going on. Anyway, Gibson started throwing his 4-seam fastball more and threw it for strikes. He challenged hitters more and started to pitch much better after that mound visit! Not only in that particular game, but for the rest of the year.
