  1. De Leon, yes. But they need another MLB-ready starter. For me, that's what Dozier is worth. Two starters, plus whatever.
  2. I wouldn't trade the farm to get Chris Sale. Maybe if they needed a 2B I'd go Dozier for Sale straight up, but I doubt the Sox would go for that. I just don't see that happening. More likely the Twins trade Dozier to the Dodgers.
  3. I should have guessed it would be Landa. Did not realize he had not pitched since July.
  4. Quite possible. But I'm still thinking Light, Grossman or Santana.
  5. I'm confused. Can someone help me? The list of Rule V draft-eligible players at Baseball America http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2016-rule-5-draft-preview/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_content=5835144504d3014987cd41f7&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter#Vl0UlyPBQThiLrHs.97 is different from the MLB list at http://m.mlb.com/news/article/209759990/mlb-rule-5-drafts-top-available-prospects/?topicid=151437456 Both are 2016 Rule 5 draft lists, but they're very different. Justin Haley, for example is on the Baseball America list but not on the MLB list (no one from the Red Sox is on that list). Can someone help me?
  6. I suspect the Twins will DFA one or two guys today. It sounds like the leadership is not looking to make a big splash at the winter meetings. I have no idea who will be dropped: Guesses include Pat Light, Robbie Grossman, or Danny Santana. Somehow, having 7 guys on your roster to cover 3 FT positions (outfield) appears redundant. Escobar would be another choice, but I hope they keep him. The Twins have first choice in the Rule V draft next week. I'm thinking Justin Haley, RHP with the Red Sox. He has already pitched last season in AAA, as a starter. Just my thoughts.
  7. The Twins open against KC in April. Duffy is the top starting pitcher on the Royals' depth chart. He's a lefty; hence Murphy or Garver could be the starting catcher on opening day!!
  8. I don't doubt that many people expect Dozier to be traded. I think it's more likely he stays. The Twin need a really good return for Dozier. I'm thinking two established MLB starting pitchers. That's what they need. But few teams - including the Dodgers - will be willing to give up two established SP for Dozier (and presumably Santiago). It's just not likely to happen. The Twins don't need other position players; the free agent market is slim for pitching, so teams will not be willing to give up much in the way of good pitchers. The Twins could use prospects, yes. But you're talking about a 2B who hit 42 home runs last year. The Twins should not settle for prospects in return for Dozier. They need MLB starting pitching, But few teams, if any, will be willing to give up what the Twins want. It's just not that difficult to find a 2B; it's more difficult to find starting pitching.
  9. i think it's a good move. Not a great one, but a good one. Castro adds depth at CA, something the Twins really need. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. And if you didn't remember to Thank God for all your blessings.
  10. Will he be able to work with Mitch Garver?
  11. I see Garver as the primary catcher in 2017, with John Ryan Murphy as the backup – unless the Twins sign Castro. I get the feeling the Twins are willing to take a chance on Garver if Castro signs elsewhere. I think the new Twins leadership puts more emphasis on defensive catching skills, and Garver has been developing them. It would not surprise me to see Garver head north with the Twins this spring...
  12. Except that the Twins already have several good outfielders – Buxton, Rosario, Kepler, with Palka and Granite close to being ready. When those two are added, the Twins might just contend for the best outfield in the majors - at least defensively.
  13. It's interesting they kept Danny Santana. I would have dropped him. Once Granite makes it to the MLB team, it'll give the Twins an elite defensive outfield, with Buxton, Kepler, Rosario and the speedy Granite, with Palka possible too. I look forward to seeing Vielma playing SS.
  14. Johan might be worth a look. I'm glad for Gardenhire's return to the dugout. I'm just glad it's not the Twins' dugout. I hope the Twins can sign Castro, but, either way, we have to look at guys like Mitch Garver and John Ryan Murphy
  15. I hate the idea of trading Dozier - he's the best player on the team. ONLY if the Twins get at least two MLB ready starters and a third prospect would I even consider trading him. If he's not traded, bring up Vielma and have him and Polanco split duties at SS. Plouffe should be traded. I am not looking for another outfielder – we have a couple waiting in the wings (Palka, Walker). A good blueprint, though. I like it.
  16. My bounce back players for the TWINS are: Buxton – we need his bat; Sano – We need him at 3B, and at the plate; Park, to reach his potential; Gibson, and Hughes for their starting pitching. We need Berrios, Rosario, and others to improve.
  17. Try this: Put Dozier at SS – that's where he started out – and Polanco at 2nd. Dozier has the range and arm to be a SS. Now that he's comfortable in the Major Leagues, it's time to make him a little uncomfortable. A former pastor friend of mine said his job (then) was to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comforted." It's time to afflict some of the comforted.
  18. So we trade a left-hander, Miguel Sulbaran – who never spent time in the majors, for Nunez, play him for two and a half years, roughly, and then trade him for another left-handed starter? I like it!!!
  19. I see E. Santana and Dozier as the biggest trade chips. We'll see what the Twins can get for them. Although... something tells me Dozier won't be traded. He and Mauer are the two remaining veterans among the position players, and the Twins need his leadership. I kind of hope either Escobar or Nunez gets traded for some prospects, and then they'll bring up Polanco. If E. Santana is traded then Berrios should be called up. I would not be surprised, however, if Gibson was traded.
  20. I agree with much of it, but not on trading Dozier. We need to find out how Polanco would do in the major leagues. Many feel he's ML ready. But we cannot trade Dozier and then find out Polanco can't hit ML pitching. Polanco needs an extended stay up here, preferably in the second half of 2016. I wish TR had called up Polanco instead of Vargas. Dozier could DH part time, and Polanco could play 2nd, SS and 3rd, to see where he's best suited. Even if Polanco gets called up, I wouldn't necessarily trade Dozier right away.
