  1. After yesterday's debacle at the expense of Rucinski.
  2. Boshers enters...and so it begins.
  3. I hope he got one there, because he didn't get one here.
  4. Twins pitchers learning the hard way how to navigate through a legit offensive team.
  5. Nice pick! Nice play on the other side of the diamond too.
  6. Beautiful bunt. Now if Buxton could learn that too.
  7. That's how they looked early yesterday too though.
  8. When did Buxton get away from the leg kick again?
  9. I don't expect him to be lights out every night, but it's good to see him work through that inning and minimizing the damage.
  10. Buxton with another infield hit. He really needs to learn to drive that to RF.
  11. Scratched due to illness.
  12. A true Twins signee...outdated and unlikly to be serviceable.
  13. He did go more in depth than surface analysis, but I do get your point. i'd be more impressed by that as well.
  14. False. I don't see BA Baracus anywhere in that lineup. I pity da fool who left him out.
  15. He already is. John Smotlz was on MLB Network last week raving about the kid.

    De Leon

Or who provides more value in context. I still think the offense would be fine without Dozier, but the rotation is in dire need of capable arms. Far too early to make any claims regardless.
  17. I do think that the players should be allowed to police themselves to some extent in certain situations like they did back in the day, however, throwing at hitters has gotten to a point where it's simply too dangerous. You've got guys exceeding 100mph on the mound and to some extent you're taking your life in your own hands simply by stepping into the batters box as a hitter. I'm firmly in the camp that says that this nonsense needs to go away. Where there is clear intent, penalties should be very steep. It's the less obvious scenarios that get harder to police. I wonder if there will come a point where they end up moving the mound back in order to protect pitchers from line drives coming off of bats and to give hitters more time to get out of the way of 100mph pitches. I hope they'd find a different solution for those, but I don't know what that would be.
  18. Like you, I'm no fan of Molitor as manager and have never liked the hiring. There's no doubt that the FO did him no favors with the bullpen they gave him, but his mismanagement makes it even worse. I fear these two games will be looked at as the turning point of the season because of the bullpen mismanagement. What could have been mostly resolved after one day will now be extended at least into tomorrow. I fear it'll be longer though.
  19. Molitor can't control anything in your scenario either, but it's still a loss. I think most people being negative towards Molitor are looking at how he managed the pen. That is firmly within his control. He used three of his tired relievers before bringing in one of the fresher call up arms. By that point not only was the game lost, but he taxed the bullpen more too. That's what people are looking at. Even if it worked for him, I'd be complaining about it because he's still in the same situation tomorrow. That's on the manager. The individual execution of pitches is obviously not on a manager.
  20. Maybe, maybe not. I think today's goal was preserve the bullpen first, win the game second once the bullpen was needed. Limit the long-term damage even if it costs the team today's game.
  21. That's true and I agree, but the players aren't the ones mismanaging the bullpen. Tomorrow, this team will be short in pen options again because their manager did them no favors by allowing them to get some rest. The players aren't responsible for Molitor blowing through his bullpen game in and game out. It does eventually cost the team games and also injuries to players which also costs the team games. I'm only blaming Molitor for his in game management. Today was embarrassing. Hopefully Berrios can bail his manager out tomorrow. Players not stepping up to the call happens. That's baseball. There are plenty of times where the situation is reversed and the players succeed despite Molitor's managing. That's also baseball. However, the managers job is to put his players in the best spot to succeed and he's done a poor job of that lately.
  22. This is what get me the most I think. Even if you bring in Rucinski and Wheeler and they get shelled but eat up the remaining innings and save the rest of the pen, long-term that's a win for me if I'm Molitor. I'd have most if not all of my bullpen options back starting tomorrow. Now he's screwed himself by putting himself in the same situation he was in today. If Wheeler and Rucinski get pummeled and I lose, so be it as long as I'm able to rest my entire bullpen in the process moving forward.
  23. All of that because your manager can't manage a bullpen. Cool.
