    What a disheartening series after a disheartening series, which was following a disheartening series. I know that it's still April, but its got to be time to start finding guys that want to play. This team felt disinterested all weekend to me. They got down early and then just checked out. That's what is the most alarming development for me.

    Is it just me, or do the Reds do a really nice job of going with a pitch and slapping it the other way? I wish the twins would do that more instead of rolling a ball over weakly to the pull side. At least this has been the case for the Reds today anyway.

    It's so strange watching a 2B fire a ball to 1B. I'm so used to Dozier lazily tossing balls over to 1B.

    I'm still puzzled at Molitor bringing Pressly in to face three straight lefties when he also had Rogers ready at the same time. I trust Pressly more than most in the pen, but the lefty/left matchup at that juncture in the game seemed to me to be the wiser course. He ended up coming into the inning anyway to face Votto. It was a good thing that the wind was blowing in from left though. The score could have been even worse with all of the hard hit balls hit that way.

    Believe me, I'm no fan of Molitor either. The correct substitution at 1B would be Mauer. Yeah, he'd have to give up the DH but Mauer had just hit in the top half of the inning. If you're going to sub for defensive purposes, you should probably use your best defenders. Maintaining the DH in the 9th shouldn't even come into consideration when you have the lead. Other than that, I would have PH Rosario for Grossman but that's minor in my view. I think Molitor handled his bullpen correctly today. The team didn't take advantage of their opportunities offensively and Rodney couldn't hold the lead. That last sentence is a microcosm of the first month of the season.

    I can't believe that I'm saying this...but I can't hang this game on him. I agree, he's not a good manager but aside from putting Morrison at 1B, it's not his fault that Rodney imploded.

    I'm not one to often defend Molitor's bullpen usage, but I think he was right here. Bring Reed in to face Stanton and Sanchez. Let others deal with the bottom of the order in the 8th. Then hope that Rodney can take care of the rest (gulp).

    If they're going to mind meld with one of the Yankees, I would have preferred that Yankee to be someone in their everyday lineup. Hale is better than nothing, I suppose.
