  1. This was not isolated to the Twins yesterday. I live in Santa Fe, NM, and it is considered part of the broadcast territory of both the Rockies and the D-bags. Yesterday, the Rockies did not have a broadcast in San Francisco, though the Giants did. Because I'm in Rockies "territory" (5.5-hour drive away), the Giants broadcast was blacked out for me on MLB.TV, just as the Oakland broadcast would have been blacked out in Twins "territory". This was the case even though the game was in San Francisco (20-hour drive from here)! I think a lot of the blame here is more on MLB, and stupid outdated blackout rules to protect regional monopolies. Though both the Twins and Rockies are to blame for deciding before the season to give their broadcast crews the day off on July 4, when more people would have had work off and would have been able to watch the game, rather than give them a day off on some other random, non-holiday day game.
  2. Twins have the most errors in the league this year. Even though it's a flawed stat, it does say something in this case.
  3. Manager switched Braun and Lucroy in the lineup. Apparently neither of them knew as Braun went up 3rd, got a hit, and was called out after Baker appealed it.
  4. No argument about the win stat. However it seems so easy to change the QS star so that 8+IP and 4 earned runs would qualify. Would add about 30 quality starts to Jack's stat sheet, including one huge CG win over the A's in August 1991.
  5. Though I'm disappointed in Molitor this year, at least he didn't do what the Brew Crew did today.
  6. Even if they go 9, it's not a quality start if they give up 4 earned runs. Makes no sense.
  7. On the bright side, Ricky gets a quality start. A minute late on that comment.
  8. Broken bat to shallow left. Nobody could get to it.
  9. Wow. Taylor Rogers made the worst play you'll ever see and still get the out.
  10. Taylor Rogers has been warming up. Why not bring him in against the lefty there?
  11. Sano did a good job blocking the bag and applying the tag, but he looked safe. overturned. Safe.
  12. Who is this Danny Valencia character and where did he come from?
  13. Mauer double to left-center. Now leads the league in oppo hits.
  14. Kevin Durant is a Warrior? How is that fair?
  15. Rosario swings at ball 4 and hits a rapper to first. . . . Baby steps?
  16. I like these A's announcers. Just pointed out Tony Oliva in the crowd. Noted that he was the first DH to hit a home run. Hit it off Catfish Hunter. And then said he should be in the hall of fame.
  17. Plouffe not exactly going all out to avoid the runner.
  18. This sounded like a quote from one of my favorite movies, Beerfest. The line is delivered by one of the writers/actors of the Broken Lizard group, Erik Stolhanske. He was a high school classmate of mine at Breck. True story.
  19. One managerial decision didn't lose the game for us . . . except for bunting Nunez.
  20. Wilson handled that question pretty well. Great interview.
