    I don't think switching him to pitcher is a reasonable option. Not after spending this much time developing him as an outfielder. I am sure he still has the raw tools to pitch but doing so at the professional level is far different than in high school so he would essentially hitting the reset button on his development.

    I think once some of the draftees sign and settle into their spots in the lower levels of the system, we will begin to see some promotions.

    Great to here that Gibson is throwing off a mound and feeling good. Obviously time will tell, but it's definitely a good sign!

    I would take that line drive Plouffe hit in the 9th any day of the week. There are plenty of center fielders that don't make that play. It was a good poke by Plouffe.

    That's probably a safe bet. People comment with such certainty but the fact of the matter is that the pitcher they wanted the Twins to take may have his elbow explode or just be a bust and Buxton could be the MVP of the next Twins World Series team. Only time will tell. That what makes the process of player development so interesting.

    The Twins have had a good amount of success against Bruce Chen over the years. It just goes to show that on any given day a pitcher can over achieve and a lineup can fall flat. It's going to happen to even the best teams over the course of a long season, it just sucks when it happens when a guy who has struggled as much as Frankie is starting to get his rhythm back.

    Hopefully the kid doesn't listen to the comparisons to the greats and comes in humble and ready to work his butt off, improve, and eventually contribute to the big league club.

    Agreed. Nothing worse than not picking up your pitchers when they give you a great performance. 12-11 losses are frustrating in their own right, but at least in a game like you're not left saying if we only could have gotten a couple of runs.

    With our lack of starting pitching depth, I would think this has to be their intention.

    Exactly. I know that a lot of us are frustrated with how slowly the Twins move certain prospects through the system, but when they have an elite, polished, MLB-ready prospect they have shown the propensity to bring them up at an early age. Mauer was 20 when he made his first MLB start at one of the most complicated and demanding positions in the game. They even moved a quality catcher in Pierzynski to make room for him. We obviously have no idea how quickly Buxton will develop, but I don't think the Twins will automatically keep him in the minors until he is 23-24 years old if he is showing he is ready for the show at 20-21 years old.

    I would agree with this. I think you definitely want to rebuild to make a run while these guys are in their primes if it's possible. Obviously, getting to the World Series is exciting whenever it happens but it would be a little less sweet if it were to happen when Mauer is 37 years old and not a part of the core. Not that I expect this to happen, but I suppose it's possible that Buxton develops quicker than expected and is with the team in 3 years.

    As you pointed out, I think it is human nature to want to label and categorize things into neat little rankings, especially if you're a type A personality which a lot of stats people are. It's difficult to accept the unknown and that answers may not come for a while. I've tried to let go of grading things prematurely and just enjoy the process of watching the players develop.

    As long as Cole keeps pitching like he is, I would keep Hendriks down for a little while longer. I know that Hendriks has been effective in AAA since getting sent down, but since he is hopefully part of our future I would like to see him have several more good starts in Rochester to build up his confidence. I would hate to see him get brought up and struggle again.

    With where he was earlier in the year, I would be super excited if he played most everyday the rest of the year and ended up hitting 0.240+ with 15-20 HRs. This is the year they have to decide if he can be a regular in the lineup or not.

    Good win. Nice little run the team is on. Great to see them scoring runs and hitting some long balls. Liked the showing by the bullpen other than Gray. Let's keep building on this.
