  1. They've dropped 10 straight. Maybe planning to fail isn't too bad an idea? Let's get the #1 pick and not BLOW it when we get it.
  2. Agreed. Of all qualifying MLB 1B, he is ranked 18th out of 22 in OPS. In RBIs, he is ranked 20th of 22. Stats since 2014 (going on 3 full years): .272 AVG 24 HR (No way he hits 6 more to raise his 3-year average to 10.) 167 RBI (A measly 60 RBIs/year during that span would have him at 180. He has 46; curious if he will even get 55.)
  3. Polanco is quickly becoming one of my favorite players.
  4. Gotta love how Suzuki works back there. Before that double, there was nobody on in the 7th, and he's still getting down to block anything in the dirt. Love it.
  5. OMG - someone who can actually get a bunt down.
  6. Runners on the corners; Joe walks.
  7. Mauer hitting .330 lifetime with RISP. Wow. Do something now, Joe.
  8. Good point. The Twins can certainly do better than a .380 slugging percentage at 1B. Mauer's lack of power is a very important topic to discuss.
  9. Can we beg the mods to lock this thread, too, because we can't stand the very blasphemy of questioning the great Joe Mauer?
  10. Some of you are trying desperately hard to muddy up the waters in this discussion. He is an AL 1B with a .372 SLG % and 29 RBIs after 93 games. He might not even get 50 RBIs, and he's on pace for 150+ games. There is no argument to fight this ineptitude. Serious question: How low will the slugging percentage need to drop until the lack of performance becomes unacceptable - even for the apologists? * .350? * .325? If his slugging percentage were to fall to .325, would it be acceptable to rip him then? Yes, he has a decent glove and takes a walk now and then. No one is arguing that. There is value to that. Those assets were valuable for a few years for Nick Punto, but Mauer's numbers, as an AL 1B, are clearly terrible.
  11. .371 SLG for an AL 1B is not valuable. Agree to disagree.
  12. OBP/OPS is average only because he tries his hardest every at bat to take a walk. It's surely not due to hitting. I like his defense. Still, his hitting and RBI production is so low that it's really embarrassing.
  13. 7/19/16 --- Mauer's stats --- 92 games in: * HR: 7 (Take away that one good week and he is nearly worst of all time. Of 23 MLB qualifying 1B, He ranks 21st.) * RBI: 28 (Of 23 MLB qualifying 1B, He ranks 22nd.) * AVG: .265 (Here we go again.) * SLG: .371 (13th on TEAM. Ranks 22nd of 23 MLB 1B. Sweet idea to keep running him out there, though.) We finally saw some accountability in this organization on Monday. When will we have some at 1B?
  14. Too bad Mauer got robbed on that.
  15. Mauer has swung at the first pitch in both at bats tonight. This is truly unprecedented. I think someone had a little talk with him.
  16. Rosario with a beautiful catch in CF.
  17. Fair question. No one should be exempt from being called out for lack of hustle.
  18. Yes, he should be on the bench right now.
  19. Dozier, you need to run that out. Unacceptable.
