  1. Yes they do. That's what the article is saying. It's the worst park a left handed hitter on any team wants to have a plate appearance with the expectation of a home run.
  2. Why does everyone take stories like this as a knock against the Twins or an excuse? It just is what it is. This park knocks down balls that are homeruns elsewhere. Just set your expectations where they need to be. Mauer and Morneau are probably going to hit more home runs on the road than at home. The Twins need to be more right handed the same way the Yankees are getting more left-handed and the Red Sox tend to be right handed.
  3. So roll with the certified dud with marginal value over a replacement player? Dozier's not a top prospect. He's just a guy who had a great 2011 with a shot at making a team that is probably going to be lousy in 2012. If he can plug a hole for some time till Levi Michael is ready to go then that's awesome. I'm just having a hard time seeing the depth of the downside of giving him a shot and seeing if he can swim at this level.
  4. He's going to be 25 this year. June 1 is certainly more logical but I suppose I'm having a harder time caring about service time before free agency here as opposed to him being 22. In addition, the Twins love arbitration buy-out deals as well which in many ways negates that issue. I also have really no problem with him skipping AAA. It's not like he would be stealing a ton of value from the guy he would be replacing as the alternative is Alexi Casilla.
  5. Wow! Sweet cherry picking right here. It beautifully hides the fact that he played 153 games in 2010, the year after he inked the contract. He had a bad health year in 2011. He's still not yet 100%. But trying to play the 'HE'S NEVER HEALTHY!' card is pretty goofy at this point.
  6. Incentives would have to be ridiculously gawdy for this to be bad deal for the Twins considering how insane the top shelf reliever market has gotten.
  7. That option for 2016 is absolutely beautiful for the team.
  8. This should be a rolling thread on prop bets. I bet a co-worker who hadn't heard of Josh Willingham $20 that he would hit more than 20.5 home runs this year, assuming 450 plate appearances. He's assuming the Twins will try to David Ortiz his approach. I'm assuming the fact that he hit 29 in Oakland last year makes at least 21 home runs a safe play.
  9. What does his being 23 have anything to do with it?
  10. Span is indeed a great defensive CF, but Revere has the ability to be Carlos Gomez good if his jumps get better with experience. Let him log the time there to get better when facing a RHP. With a lefty, platoon Plouffe and put Span in CF.
  11. That Arden Hills site would have been sweet. But the most important thing is that they stay.
  12. The key is that out of town scoreboard in right center. You really have to get every stitch of the ball like Jim Thome would to hit it out of there. I remember last year when Prince Fielder hit a really good line shot that would have been out in probably 26 other parks in the league. He watched it and walked. Then he jolted into a sprint to get to 2nd base when he realized it didn't have the height for that part of the park. I'm fine keeping the dimensions where they are, but now this team has to get right handed. It's a lot easier to deposit a ball over that Budweiser sign than get it over the limestone or the scoreboard. That's a huge reason as to why they got so badly outhomered at home last year. They had one right-handed slugger in Cuddyer. Most teams had more than that. Willingham was a good start, and platooning Plouffe against lefties provides some right handed pop as well. Hopefully Benson, Hicks, and Sano are developing an ability to turn on pitches
