  1. Your analysis is very interesting thrylos, as always. But I wonder whether some of the improvement might be attributable to pitching in more pitcher-friendly ballparks than the Metrodome.
  2. Thanks for this report. After what he went through with his daughter's accident, I wish him only the best.
  3. With greater focus and confidence, Plouffe could be scary good. Although he will be 26 this month, he is still young enough to put together a great career. This year Plouffe is on track for 19-20 home runs, and as stated in Parker's excellent article, he has been unlucky.
  4. Bark, I greatly enjoy our repartee and generally agree with most of what you post. Also, we are both Plouffetists. I was not offended in the least. We share many common goals, including Plouffe staging the greatest improvement of all time and winning the AL home run title.
  5. I just hope that this is not going to be a repeat of last year, where the Twins were contending enough that they made no big trades, then got flushed down the toilet after the trade deadline. If the Twins are less than 7 games out at the trade deadline, it seems likely that they might be buyers, not sellers, in order to keep the attendance figures higher and in the hope that they can make the playoffs. And if Mauer/Morneau/Span/Willingham could all have career seasons, and Ploufee and some others could play to their potential (and the starting pitchers could pitch like they have during the past 8 games), the Twins could be in first place in the division by the trade deadline.
  6. If Diamond can keep his era under 2.00 and wins 4+ more games (preferably burning off lots of innings) before selection day for pitchers, I predict that he will make the all star team. But I agree with you that at this time, Willingham seems like the most likely selection.
  7. If Diamond can keep his era under 2.00, I would argue that he deserves this. I also agree that Hammer should go.
  8. Slama's injury is bad news. I hope that it is not serious.
  9. P.J. (the "Wall") Walters is scheduled to pitch the opener against the Cubs, and the Cubs pitcher has an era of 4.56, so there is reason to be hopeful
  10. Nice win. The Royals announcers were talking about how the Twins are superstitiously thinking that they play better with their "M" caps instead of their "TC" caps. Maybe it's working, and we all need to purchase yet another cap. Now that I think about it, the Twins have lost the last 4 games that I attended wearing my "TC" cap. Yes, definitely need to get an "M" cap.
  11. #9 hitter up -- just don't walk him!
  12. Nice play by Casilla!!! Good hustle and he did not rush the throw. And a nice stretch by first baseman Trevor Plouffe.
  13. I just took a Valium.
  14. As I recall, Mijares pitched well for Anderson before last year. And with the recent improvements in the Twins starting pitching and the recent awesomeness of the bullpen, some people could argue that Anderson deserves at least some credit for some of the good things that are happening. Also, Mijares seemed lazy and out of shape last year. Per the Royals announcers, he came in to spring training in great shape this year. Maybe getting released was a wake up call for him.
  15. I we have 4 or 5 starters who can pitch competently and the bullpen stays strong, then the optimist hat might yet fit. But I wonder whether a team in last place in June has ever come back to win a division championship. If someone knows this, please share. Some optimism would feel good right now after 1+ seasons of suffering (even if it is false optimism).
  16. Radar gun shows Perkins hitting 98 mph. I wonder if gun needs adjusting or if Perk is jazzed tonight.
  17. I am impressed by Blackburn's recovery from a poor first inning, and pray that he can join Liriano in giving us hope for a comeback. If only Dozier can start making fewer errors...
  18. After yesterday's shutout by that soft tossing Chen, they should be playing harder.
  19. If this goes the way that it looks, I am hoping that Butera will get to pitch a few innings tonight.
  20. When we are up by 10 runs in the 9th inning and our pitcher needs some extra work?
  21. Dozier seems to be making a lot of errors lately. And the timing of this error is bad, because Blackburn really needs to get out of this inning.
  22. I am stranded at the office by Obama's motorcade. What happened to Royals' starter?
  23. Now its up to DOOM!
  24. Revere is playing in center today -- I am hoping for some webgems.
