    Term limits

    I have been saying this for years. Having 435 members made sense when there were no radios, televisions, internet, railroads, airplanes, or highways. Congressmen had to travel by horseback or carriage and had to communicate by letters and meeting. Today, a Congressperson can much more easily communicate with constituents. I would like to see the House of Representatives cut to 200 members and give them 4 year terms.

    Moderator note -- this thread will be OK if people can focus on the wisdom of the signings of Hughes, Santana and Nolasco compared with the other options that were available. Please do NOT turn this into yet another broad debate about every possible reason why TR should or should not be fired. And please be factual and civil.

    It seems to me that Storen would probably benefit from a change in scene and is likely to repeat his former success, especially if he is given a closer role. But I think that there is a material chance that he could have similar problems in the future. And I doubt that Washington will end up trading him cheap - there are teams that need a closer who would have a greater incentive than the Twins to roll this dice.

    My sense is that this was a leak that Ortiz never denied. In my mind, this is more than a rumor but less than definitive. Others probably know more.

    I got to visit the Jim Henson studio last night, which was originally Charlie Chaplin's studio and was later used to film the Superman TV series. Lots of history there.

    Another option would be to trade Nolsaco for Reyes then trade Reyes for a catcher or whatever. If the Rockies are high on Nolasco and want to get rid of Reyes, then I would like to see a deal. Last night I was eyeballing the batting stats of our Escobar versus KC's Escobar, and our Escobar stacked up pretty good. I think that our Escobar could get even better, and I like the idea of keeping a young core together. I also think that a team that wants Reyes might be willing to give up a decent catcher. It seems to me that there are lots of ways to skin this cat and I would be happy with any of them that gets the Twins something decent for Nolasco.
