  1. I wish that my life was that good.
  2. The Mets have a young catcher who seems to have a high upside: Ali Sanchez. Per the Mets' website: "Sanchez made his United States debut in 2015 and performed well, particularly behind the plate. No one runs on him, with a strong arm and a quick release leading to him throwing out 48 percent of would-be basestealers in the Gulf Coast League. Sanchez is athletic and agile behind the plate, with soft hands and good blocking skills, showing an ability to work with pitchers that often doesn't come until later in development. He has tools to hit, with a solid approach and an understanding of what he still needs to work on. Sanchez's swing is contact-oriented now, but there should be power to come as he adds strength. Just 19 for all of the 2016 season, Sanchez still has a ways to go, particularly offensively. But with a floor of a very good backup and a ceiling of an everyday big league backstop, the Mets are eager to help him get there." Here is the link: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=nym He is listed as the Mets' #15 prospect.
  3. Sometimes it's nice to play against a very bad opponent.
  4. Having good outfield defense can be a good thing.
  5. Interesting article. Thanks for sharing this.
  6. I agree with what John has said, and would add that the moderators are particularly protective of new members.
  7. Dear Tim - I think that we all want the Twins to get better. Clearly, there has been less positivity this year than in prior years. Starting the season with a 9 game losing streak did not help, and there have not been many signs that things are likely to get better any time soon. Our members are all free to create threads and say whatever they believe so long as they follow our posting policy. This season, the ratio of negative threads and posts has been higher than ever, but positive threads and posts still exist, particularly in the minor league forum. As a moderator I am part of a team of 10 volunteers who are committed to keeping the discussion respectful. We delete a fair number of posts that are snide/snarky and we do our best to eliminate trolling. That said, no one at TD can compel positive threads and posts. Now that you have made your first post, I would encourage you to consider starting a thread to initiate a discussion of how the team might get better, excluding any discussion of firing anyone. Feel free to give your own ideas or merely to solicit ideas from others. And if anyone gets snarky in such thread just click on the word "report" at the bottom of the snarky post and the moderators will deal with it. Sometimes in life you have to give in order to get. I appreciate your perspective and invite you to take a positive role in fostering discussion of how the Twins might improve. Gerald
  8. It is difficult to imagine anything more putrid than last night's game. The Angels are a terrible team and they slaughtered the twins.
  9. Next time move the closet.
  10. Two mediocre teams playing poorly.
  11. Jepsen needs some DL time.
  12. Great throw by Kepler to get the double play.
  13. They even have a game thread. Unfortunately I seem to be unable to issue infractions there. http://www.halosheaven.com/2016/6/14/11909396/twins-angels-06-14-2016-gamethread
  14. A passed ball could score 2 runs with Buxton at second.
  15. Clutch hit by Buxton. I am relieved that he did not bunt.
  16. I bet that they are now glad that he did not accept.
  17. I would have offered $20 and been willing to go to $100.
  18. I believe in not overpaying. That's part of what makes me unhappy with some of TR's free agent acquisitions, including Santana
  19. Yes, but for a lot less than his first.
  20. Then I'm glad that I did not buy that ball
  21. I was at the game last night and saw Kepler take some time signing autographs. He seems like a good kid. It was fun bonding with other California Twins fans and seeing Buxton's first home run. In hindsight I should have gone to the left field bleachers and made an offer to buy that baseball. I wonder whether the Twins were able to get it.
