  1. Certainly feels like there may be another signing given the market's climate. Of your options listed, I'd say its more likely to be A or B, leaning towards Cobb. I also wouldn't be surprised if the only other move left is Vargas traded or DFA'd to make room on the 40-man for Aybar. But Vargas is getting moved somehow, unfortunately. In summary, there is at least one move left. Just depends on if that player is in FT Myers yet or not.
  2. Well, you are the President of the "Baseball Player Positional Flexibility" Club. I'd be disappointed if you didn't want that. Love the signing. Anytime you can improve the roster, I'm all for it. As many have said, looks like it's either Vargas or Grossman that is the odd man out. I'd be willing to bet that Vargas is out given his limits in the field. Would be nice if Vargas had a option left to have some value in a trade, but I don't think he has much value in a trade outside of a throw in of a bigger trade.
  3. Curious to see what they are making room for.
  4. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/twins-place-j-t-chargois-on-outright-waivers.html Wonder what they're making room for? EDIT: Whoops, sorry about the duplicate post
  5. Let me dream, would ya?
  6. Is this the Jason Marquis(esque) signing we've all been waiting for? If all he is is a stop gap for 4-6 starts for Santana, then either DFA'd or long man in the bullpen, fine. If he's literally anything else, barf.
  7. WE GOT HIM!* *Ew

  9. I honestly think that Minnesota is Darvish's 2nd choice at best. Behind LA and maybe even Chicago and Texas. I just don't get the inclination that he wants to be in Minnesota. Which is fine. Unless the real sticking point is he's holding out for the 6th year, which is his right. Maybe the Twins can make the 6th year a vesting/player/team option. What I'm really saying is I just want him to sign somewhere, anywhere. Preferably with the Twins. Just to get the logjam of free agents rolling.
  10. The timing sucks, but surgery is always and should always be a last resort. If it is indeed a case of he was feeling increased discomfort in the finger as he ramped up his bullpen sessions leading up to spring training. Not much you can do there. At least he should only miss the first 4-6 weeks of the seasons. How many starts is that? 5-7 I think. Does increase the need to get at least one of the top 4 SP free agents and maybe a second from a lower tier as well.
  11. And the circle completes itself.
  12. I still can't believe what I saw last night. I'm used to having my heart crushed. What is this emotion I'm feeling? Think I've watched the play on loop for far too long last night.
  13. I think they give Joe a two year contract with a team option for a third year. He's still a top 10 1st baseman as far as WAR is concerned. He may not be flashy, loud, etc... but I think he still provides a lot of value. So long as Rooker isn't knocking the door down or Sano is forced off of 3rd, Joe stays for a few more years, at a far reduced rate. *disclaimer* this is all assuming that he plays at or around his 2017 year. If he's closer to 2015-2016, might be tougher for him to stick.
  14. My favorite memory was when he pumped iron with bears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBjWETNkgpU But in all seriousness. My favorite Twin. Ever. One can only ask what might have been with him.
  15. I like some (many?) here, was introduced to reality really for the first time on January 17th 1999. I was 12 years old turning 13 and was on the sweet, sweet ride known as the 1998 Vikings. I was drinking all the purple kool-aid, best offense the league had ever seen they said, defense was pretty good too they said, Gary Anderson hasn't missed all year they said. My father also had the same Super Bowl mug and asked me in my naivety how many winners the Vikings had. I said none but 1998 was gonna be different. Denny Green sat on that powerful juggernaut of a offense and played for overtime. Wide Left. I think the 2009 championship kind of broke me a bit as a Viking fan. I let my guard down again. "They are actually going to do it", I said to myself in a local bar in Brookings, SD. They are going to the Super Bowl, this is it. Even 5 turnovers isn't going to slow this down. This year was gonna be different! 12 men in the huddle, followed by Favre pick. Lost in overtime. Was in the stadium for Blair Walsh. Legs froze. So was Blair's apparently. Wide left. This year also feels somewhat different. We'll see. I'm probably wrong.
  16. In all seriousness. I like the low risk, highish reward signing. Especially for the 2019 rotation.
