  1. Well, no, you are correct. However, I also wouldnt go out of my way to make sure I wasnt going to their games like I will with Correia & AAA filler callups. That's worth something too.
  2. All I know is that I live in Iowa, and in previous years, if I would choose on a whim to come up to a game, I would check pitching matchups and try to pick the best pitcher to come see. In Liriano's dominant year, I tried to get tickets to see him pitch. Am I a little over the top compared to others? Probably, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility that others, if given between game A and game B, would choose to see the better pitcher (or the non getaway day lineup). Fast forward to this year. Yada Yada Yada. Maybe Gibson.
  3. What exactly is the rationale behind using ERA- as a tool over ERA+? I ask because up until recently, I had never seen ERA- used. Is it just corrected to reflect the higher ERA-, the worse it is?
  4. only about four more months before he goes under the knife for TJ. cue Benny Hill theme.
  5. What exactly did not signing last year leave Appel for options this year? What happens if he doesn't sign again this year? I've never heard of such a thing happening.
  6. They aren't charging 50% extra for any game, and you're saying that like they are doing us a favor.. Point taken John.
  7. Those high draft picks for a decade didnt hurt either.
  8. Fair point. Though it is a bit ridiculous to state that the talent on the Twins roster is on par with the other teams in the division after the offseason moves that have been made. Things could break their way for once and they could surprise us all (we all hope actually). And that last part, well, obligatory medical and training staff comment.
  9. They just signed Bourn and got Swisher also. And they signed Brett Meyers.
  10. Seeing as how bad we were, and how many more additions they made to their team......you know what, youre right.
  11. I can say with pretty high certainty that the Indians finish at least 5 games ahead of us this year.
  12. Apologies. How are we supposed to know that there is an article posted though, without visiting the front page? Check the front page more often?
  13. It is true, though doesnt their control tend to suffer a bit (at least relatively short term)? I have nothing to go on, just something I feel like I remember from the past.
  14. Solid minor league signing. Leave him in relief. Trying him as a starter coming off shoulder surgery doesnt make a whole lot of sense.
  15. And wins ten games as a pitcher.
  16. I don't know how it ended up ranking for difficulty, but wouldn't they have played an Easier schedule last year for being terrible the year before?
  17. Maybe you should think outside the box and try to read people's mind and think what they mean is actually opposite of what they are saying.
  18. I don't really get what point you are trying to make. So you would rather have an entire team composed of border major league talent nice guys that would struggle to eek out 70 wins in a season instead of rolling the dice on a guy every once in a while that is fiery or runs his mouth a bit to the media? Last time I checked, we made the playoffs when we had Hunter, Hudson, and Cabrera on this team. Well your wish is granted, we've got the likes of Scott Elarton waiting in the wings at AAA when we need him!
  19. I cant speak or him, but I am pretty sure MWW was being sarcastic. (why would any free agents want to play for the Twins!)....
  20. Sign two SP, SS, and 2B each that can post a 1-2 WAR improvement (shooting from the hip only here) and all of a sudden we could be approximately 8 wins better. Where is the line between "only a few extra wins" and "enough wins to matter"? I yearn for competent competitive baseball To watch all season, even if its not winning baseball.
  21. I don't get his dislike for Parm (offense wise), but I guess he needs to show more at the major league level. Calling Morneau a platoon player is a bit over the top too. Id like to see him play healthy and not rely on the past few years of his post concussion shell of his former self.
  22. Oof. At least we have Mauer.. Offseason report card: Twins - SweetSpot Blog - ESPN
  23. That is a good point, though they are less likely to overpay in the draft like they would have to overpay for free agent talent. No surprise they don't pursue Boras clients too often, and risk overpaying.
