  1. Well, this is the last Twins game that I will be attending this year. Coincidentally, this will be the first Rochester Red Wings game that I've ever attended.
  2. I think you're right that the team is interested in making money, but I don't think that comes at the expense of trying to field a good team. If you have a good team, it's easier to make money. Simple as that. I think I'm with the majority of people on TD that wouldn't be surprised if Gardy is back next year. I've been saying it for a while that the Twins are going to let him do a farewell tour as the prepare for the next manager waiting in the wings. Also, Anderson needs to go. I think that is pretty obvious to everyone.
  3. Good luck Florimonster.
  4. I always pronounced it Shar - gwa. Really French sounding. I could be completely wrong though.
  5. I almost hate to say it, but Moneyball is quite the good book. It's very well written, and written by a non-baseball guy. Baseball Between the Numbers is a good sabermetrics book. It can be a little dry at times, but it is still good.
  6. I pretty much only buy hats with the TC logo on them. The "M" logo has seems kind of dated to me. It looks very 80's. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I feel like the TC logo doesn't quite have that dated feeling, even though it is older. Just my opinion. Besides, people from St. Paul won't wear the "M". Can't alienate the fan base.
  7. Really was a must watch. He pretty much nailed it though. Yeah, the Twins really need help in the marketing department.
  8. Glad to see Chargois on the list. Let's hope he stays healthy can live up to that potential.
  9. The answer is yes. Managers can be traded. The last example of this that I can remember happening was the White Sox trading Ozzie Guillen to Miami for a few prospects. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/majors/trade-central/2011/2612403.html I have a hard time believing that KC would fire the manager that got them to the playoffs for the first time in 30 years right after the season though.
  10. And the 10,000th homer will be hit by... Joe Mauer. (Sorry, not trying to be a troll).
  11. It doesn't actually look like they will be able to sign him. The whole situation is very confusing. It might have something to do with Nix more than Aiken. I would also be very upset if they were allowed to sign either of them though. Unless they were forced to honor the agreement they made with Nix and they lost a draft pick due to being over their bonus pool. MLB trade rumors goes through this in more detail: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/astros-could-still-reach-deal-with-brady-aiken.html
  12. They both love Mark DeRosa?
  13. Yeah. I'm definitely not a fan of this idea. Dozier seems to be a part of future. I think everyone has given enough reasons given his numbers and status as a crowd favorite. Also, August would definitely not be the time to make this trade. The haul would probably be bigger in the offseason. I'd rather they explored an extension with Dozier to try to buy out his arb years and possibly one or two free agent years rather than exploring a trade. That's my personal opinion, at least.
  14. Weather.com's forecast radar show all those rain storms moving right around Minneapolis, especially downtown. So, that probably means that we're going to get dumped on.
  15. I hope that weather forecast is wildly inaccurate. I'll be at the game tonight, and I'd rather not have it get delayed for any reason.
  16. I agree with you completely. The Twins should definitely be auditioning young guys, and I believe the definitely will in September. But these few weeks are important to Nolasco too. It's important to show he can return to his former self to give everyone more confidence in next year. They could still option Pino to AAA and bring someone up for the pen as well as putting Swarzak on the DL. With the updated timing, there doesn't seem to be much controversy here... yet.
  17. True, but you don't need the roster spot right now. You're probably not going to call up someone for one day just in case you need them. He didn't play yesterday, so the can always put him on the DL tomorrow and make it retroactive if he needs to go on the DL. Not a big deal at all.
  18. Danny Santana is having a really good game.
  19. Multiple Kenny with multiple RBI!
  20. And intentionally walking Mauer. Bases loaded for Vargas. This could be fun.
  21. Joe doesn't hit enough homeruns. (sarcasm) Good Job, Joe.
  22. I'm just listening on the radio today, but they announcers were pretty amazed Nunez didn't catch that pop-up.
  23. I think they need to have a dedicated set of umpires to work the review booth rather than rotating them in. Maybe they won't worry about upholding the calls as much and worry about getting the call right.
