  1. I’m currently looking at booking hotels for the inevitable World Series parade after this move. Good rates available in MSP for early November.
  2. All those articles about what correa was going to do with our offer reminded me of when I wanted to ask out the hot girl in high school, wondering what I could promise her so she’d give me a chance. Meanwhile she was texting 3 stud athletes from the school two towns over. Never had a chance
  3. Yeah! Let’s go out and buy big fancy rims for our Toyota Tercel roster! Makes sense!
  4. Seems as if the only way for teams like the twins to counter this wild contract stuff is to start getting a whole lot better at scouting/drafting and developing big leaguers. There was a time not long ago the organization was really good at it. Need to improve in that area immediately.
  5. What if they don’t get any really* good years
  6. 13 years? Lmao baseball is ridiculous. They’ll need to install a hand rail going down the first base line for the last year of his contract
  7. It doesn’t have to be “barren”, it just has to not produce enough quality players to help the big team. A lot of the guys you mention are big question marks. Even Ryan was up and down. Way too soon to tell on varland. Ober is not super impressive even when healthy. Lewis coming off an ACL.
  8. I’m not saying they mean everything, but we’ve lost several guys who helped us get a high ranking and several others have disappointed. We seem to have a serious problem in player development throughout the system. Guys showing up to the ML club lacking basic fundamentals of the game. Doesn’t bode well for player development in the near future
  9. We’re kind of living that now though aren’t we? 31 years to be exact. I don’t count setting playoff loss records are much more than rubble, especially in the increasingly watered down playoff system
  10. twins farm system rankings have absolutely tanked over the last few seasons, so that route isn’t looking so great.
  11. Agree 100%. I don’t see the point. I’m not a metrics guy so I’m sure someone will tell me how wrong I am but I watched probably 70% of the games last year and he was underwhelming until late in the season when we were already toast. Plus, I have no idea why he’d want to be in MN. We aren’t close to seriously competing. Signing him would be like throwing some expensive rims on a Tercel
  12. A lot of those guys you mentioned were signed by teams with much better roster situations. Might make more sense to me to take a swing when you have a team that realistically has a chance to compete. Even then, when these guys get to their mid-late 30s then they tend to just become an albatross
  13. This is why I said disappointing. It got so bad with his lack of clutch hitting that some posters on this board were trying to convince us that we “didn’t sign correa for his offense”. I actually thought his defense was good. But clutch hitting wise he was a dud. Which is besides the point anyway to me because we need so much help all over the field that I highly doubt dumping all that salary into one guy is going to make this a playoff team. But I may be in the minority here
  14. Why would you tie up that much money into one guy when you have a roster full of holes and the team realistically not ready to contend? You watched most of the games this year, how soon in your estimation is this team to seriously competing?
  15. How many times do long term contracts have to fail before people stop clamoring for them? 9 years? Good grief
  16. No reason for this team to spend that much on CC. Anyone who watched the playoffs should have seen how far off the twins are from competing. Makes zero sense to dump that much money into one guy who was largely a disappointment offensively last year
  17. The end for me was the pulling of Joe Ryan in mid September after the 7th inning of his no hitter. A lost season, and the diehards who stuck it out were robbed of a chance to see history because of a pitch count. I think I watched a handful of innings after that the rest of the way.
  18. Good for Luis. Most unenjoyable season that I can remember. Even the 90-100 loss seasons weren’t as grating on me.
  19. No way Jose. This was the worst division in the AL and arguably the worst in baseball. Nobody expected the white Sox to be as bad as they were and Cleveland was just as dreadful until the last month or so of the season. 19 games each against the two worst teams in the AL, and two other mediocre teams and the twins will STILL finish 6-8 games under .500, possibly a 19 game turnaround from late May. how could anyone argue, with a straight face, that the team with the worst record in AL over the last 4+ months got a “fine” job from their manager? Yeesh
  20. If Arraez can play, and isn’t because of the batting average title chase, I may actually be ashamed to be a fan of this team. Over cautious about everything is no way to run a team and no way to earn the attention of the fans.
  21. I’m a 35 year old man and have seen 6 twins playoff wins. Six. Too young to understand ‘91 We will never seriously compete until we build a new stadium
  22. One day the perpetually pessimistic posters like me are going to be wrong. I hope
