  1. Glazer doubles down on his KOC trade talk: https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/news/jay-glazer-doubles-down-on-kevin-o-connell-report-i-don-t-really-get-a-lot-wrong-01jh0vyk20we
  2. I’ll add this too…I think many black coaches are set up to fail. Perfect cases are Mayo and Pierce. Both were previously linebackers coaches. Not even coordinators at the nfl level. I know the league is also trying to hire minority coordinators the way they do minority head coaches. I believe there were 18 minority D coordinators last season. I think many teams will want Glenn from Detroit and hopefully not but probably Flores as head coaches I couldn’t even name the inside linebackers coach on the Vikings. I think a coach of any racial background will struggle when they skip steps on the experience ladder. There probably wasn’t going to be a much different outcome for mayo and pierce than what ended up happening. Maybe I’m wrong but I do expect as more minority coaches gain positions in the NFL, the one and done rates will probably be more equal and this year will be an outlier.
  3. The rate is definitely higher, but look even further. The Texans are responsible for 2 of those one and done firings of black coaches. Were they guided by bigotry? They’ve now hired 3 consecutive different black coaches. Never been done in history. Hard case to make. What about mayo? Kraft says he selected him 5 years ago to be the head coach after belichick. Even had it in his contract. Would he do that with the plan of firing him because he’s a secret racist? Would be odd. Reports are that he wasn’t ready and kraft’s own words said as much. How about pierce? The raiders have had 4 black head coaches in their history (art shell twice). More than any franchise in the league. Pierce was a linebackers coach after leaving Arizona state amid a recruiting scandal that cost them a bowl ban. Could argue he wasn’t even qualified but that organization always seems to make the wrong call. All I’m saying is that you need context if you want to allege racism. There were 9 minority head coaches in the nfl this year, which is a record. The lack of hires in the past is another argument. The nfl is making progress but progress can be slow. Some of these franchises and coaches are just a mess and make bad hiring decisions, like Kraft bungling the patriots. It doesn’t always have to be ugly racism
  4. There apparently have been 34 one and dones in NFL history. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/list-of-first-year-nfl-coaches-fired/#:~:text=HomeEvergreen-,One and Done NFL Head Coaches%3A Antonio Piece%2C Jerod Mayo,NFL Coaches Fired Throughout History&text=Although not common%2C there have,of coaching throughout league history. Had absolutely no idea that Lou Holtz coached the jets in 1976 😂 apparently he resigned and wasn’t fired. But his quote was gold “god did not put Lou Holtz on this earth to coach the pros” 😂😂😂There are some real bums on that list.
  5. The Flores situation will be interesting considering his Miami stuff. We’ll see if there’s any collusion going on to keep him from a HC job. Although I’d have to believe that would have more to do with his suing the league and not his racial background. Let’s hope he doesn’t go anywhere, regardless.
  6. It’s easy to say that regarding race of coaches fired, but look at that list I posted yesterday, Of the 9 one and done coaches in the last ten years, 6 have been white and the Texans hired a black coach, fired him after one year, hired another black coach, fired him after a year and then hired another black coach. At one point you could make the placeholder argument, but there really isn’t any convincing evidence over the last decade or so that would indicate some racist practices in coach hirings and firings. After I looked in to it, from what it sounds like, Kraft had it in Mayo’s contract that he was belichick’s successor and would learn while on his staff. From Kraft’s comments the other day, it sounds like Mayo just simply wasn’t ready, and Kraft took the blame.
  7. Didn’t belichick basically hand pick him to be his successor?
  8. I don’t pretend to know the situation in New England but there has been a one and done coach almost every year since 2015. Frank reich (2023) panthers Nathaniel Hackett (2023) broncos Lovie smith (2022) Texans david culley (2021) Texans Urban Meyer (2021) jags Freddie kitchens (2019) browns Steve wilks (2018) cardinals chip Kelly (2016) niners Jim tomsula (2015) niners and let’s not forget our own one year guy, Les Steckel
  9. Disagree. Frazier’s record was far worse than zimmer’s. He had no QB but Peterson carried that team that year he almost set the rushing record. Zimmer got to a NFCCG with keenum. Also Denny green lost his first 4 playoff games and still managed 10 seasons as the head coach
  10. That would be pretty gross, timing wise
  11. One of the talking heads wondered if it was something the KOC camp put out there, since contract talks haven’t started yet.
  12. I think one thing that didn’t really get mentioned was how Detroit gained some serious momentum with how they approached that game in SF. Didn’t really have anything to play for, had a zillion injuries coming in, and still chose to play their starters. Had to fight back after being down, and their defense, which was terrible, made the plays to win. Looking back, that should have been an ominous sign. They approached that entire situation in what seems like the perfect way.
  13. What was with that “KOC is a trade option” story that breaks on the morning of the game of the year? Curious timing to say the least
  14. Well he’s going to get at least one shot to restore everyone’s faith. I still want him back. I was just struck yesterday at how young JJMc is when they showed him on the broadcast. He looks like a child 😂
  15. Lol I’m just speaking as a fan. WHY CANT IT BE US ONCE MIKE WHY
  16. That’s just so bad and painful to watch.
  17. This reminded me of the jaguars game where he kept throwing those picks in the red zone. It seemed like he was worried about turning it over so much that he just held it for longer than he should have. Maybe I’m wrong but it seemed like he was much quicker to take off and run earlier in the season.
  18. It’s hard not to be so bitter as a Vikings fan when you realize Doug ****ing pederson won a Super Bowl at our expense, in our own stadium, and has now been unceremoniously kicked to the curb twice.
  19. Is it fair to say yesterday was the de facto NFCCG? Is that why this hurts so bad 😂
  20. The only thing I will say as far as the coaching is concerned. If you recognize that your quarterback has pee running down his leg, you maybe have to try something other than lining him up in shotgun 90% of the time inside the ten. Maybe run the ball or run a quick screen like they did last week against GB. Got them a touchdown on that play. KOC just kept trying to hammer the square peg in the round hole. If you can’t pickup 2-5 yards in 4 plays on the ground then I guess you don’t belong on the field. I don’t know. Then again, it seems like Aaron jones has a great quarter or so then just disappears. I don’t know if was injury related or what, but man KOC abandons the run faster than anyone I’ve ever seen.
  21. I honestly think this is a thing that just hangs over the franchise. Everyone is always waiting for the bottom to fall out and not many franchises are like that. I don’t know how you fix it until you get a group of guys that just say enough. Like the Red Sox in ‘04. And you might be able to get by with a lineman who lacks confidence but it can’t be from your quarterback. Every season has moments where plays have to be made and the championship teams make enough of those plays. The losers don’t and that’s what we saw last night. Reminded me a bit of the saints championship game with the turnovers. We were all just waiting for another missed pass in a crucial spot.
  22. Yeah the ball should have already been out in that picture I posted above. And he’s not even ready to throw it. That’s mental stuff right there. It’s been a long time since I saw a guy actually scared on a field like that. Joe Nathan pitching to the Yankees in 2009 (I think) comes to mind
  23. Tonight was such a gut punch to the organization in a lot of ways. To be exposed like that on a national stage.
  24. I guess the good news is that he became a whole lot cheaper tonight. I’m just stunned by what happened tonight. the inaccuracy from last week’s big game was noted, but he ended up making some key throws and overcoming that interception he threw. I really didn’t think Sam would melt like this. Now what? Does he come back and have another great regular season….but the entire time we all are thinking he will wilt in the playoffs? That kind of stuff becomes sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  25. Look how wide open Addison was on 4th down in the 3rd quarter. This would have given the Vikings the lead. He’s looking right at him 🤦‍♂️ I was an average at best QB in high school and the quick slant is probably the easiest throw to make. Clearly this play was designed to go to Addison
