    The shift would have been acceptable maybe in the second inning, or with a 3-run lead, but not in the bottom of the 7th in a tie game.

    I've watched the replay about a dozen times. The 3B ump, the HP ump, Rosario and Glynn all point to Drake and Smalley says BALK at the exact same time. Everybody including Drake knew it. What a great play by Rosario!

    Didn't get to see the Rosario-induced balk live, but it's exactly the type of thing Molitor would have done as a player. And if the pitcher hadn't balked Rosario could have stolen home because of the idiotic defensive alignment. Any smart manager knows you have to keep a runner on third base honest. Either way a run.

    There are (legitimate, IMHO) complaints about the rivalry series being played as back-to-back weekday 2-gamers. Here's my suggestion: If it has to be 2 2-game series, which it probably does, then do all of them right before and right after the All-Star break. It would be unusual to have a series end on a Friday and have another series start on a Sunday but that can be worked out.

    I mentioned this the other day but I'll mention it again. The Brewers are the only team against which Ervin Santana, tonight's starter, has never recorded a win.

    Sorry to hijack this thread but I thought I'd mention something pertinent to tonight's game. Weather may be an issue. 40% chance of showers, temps in the mid-50's, north winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

    Just from what I read here it appears the Twins have improved their organizational pitching strength with these two trades. As I've said before, I think the goal of the front office should be for the organization to support a major league team that can contend for the postseason every season. This will not happen overnight given the current state of our pitching. I'm hopeful that we can contend for the postseason in 1-2 years and every year following.

    I don't think it's a good idea for our batters to be swinging at that pitch, even with 2 strikes. It shouldn't be called a strike, but whether it would be or not it's not an easy pitch to hit.

    Coffee and I don't get along very well. If I'm not drowsy there's no point. If I'm drowsy and drink coffee I wind up being drowsy with a knot in my stomach.

    BTW, I've been getting all my posts in early because I probably will lose consciousness for the night before the third inning. It's the curse of being a morning person.

    If you were going to a Raiders game getting socked would happen before you even entered the stadium. But A's fans, what few of them there are, well, I don't think you need to worry whether your health insurance is paid up.
