    I know what you mean, but it didn't seem to be anti-climactic to the guys in the clubhouse.

    Interesting. I wasn't aware of this change. In the one-wild-card format there was no playoff game because both teams were in the postseason anyway. But in the two-wild-card format there is an advantage in the postseason schedule for the division winners so they play off to determine who gets which berth.

    This is not as far-fetched as some might think. I'm thinking there are a lot of free agent pitchers who'd rather watch the Twins' rising stars bat from the Twins' bullpen or dugout than from the pitcher's mound

    Just now had a chance to jump back in to the thread. Too many pages to catch up on. This is shaping up to be a hard game to watch. From the first pitch in the first inning.

    So, if one always practices moderation, doesn't that mean that moderation is not being practiced in moderation?

    This can all be distilled down to this: If there is a high likelihood that the batter will make an out without advancing the runner it's probably better to sac bunt, and if scoring only one run is needed in an inning then a sac bunt is indicated even more strongly.
