  1. If they need his veteran presence that bad, he can be the #3 bullpen assistant.
  2. If Belisle is on the roster tomorrow, someone should be fired.
  3. Call up Austin. Between him and Adrianza they can get by. Grossman's a disaster in the OF anyway.
  4. Gross mismanagement by Molitor when Grossman went out. How do you not put Mauer in there instead of Morrison? Cost them 2 outs in the 8th. Or give up the DH and put Kepler in RF. Or both.
  5. Regarding being "in" it, Cleveland does not impress me, so anything is possible. But you also have to factor in the bigger picture. They had zero chance of advancing against NYY/Bos/Hou if they did make it. Zero. That's not normally the case in MLB play-offs, but it would have been this year. Also, I'm not sure how much they actually hurt themselves. Escobar was replaced by Sano. Lynn by Santana. Pressly by May. Duke by Moya. Dozier is the only spot that really stings. If they somehow end up finishing within 4 games of Cleveland, we can wonder what might have been. But we didn't just make ourselves 10 games worse.
  6. I saw someone on Twitter alleging that "sources" told him Mauer is going to retire. No idea if it has any validity. But it's possible he told the Twins this already and that played into who they targeted the last two days.
  7. But then where would Grossman fit in? We simply must keep him around....
  8. This is such lame logic. The Astros will be good for a long time. The Yankees and Red Sox will always be good. By this logic, we should trade everyone a curl up in a ball in the fetal position.
  9. Best case return: They get a player who might one day be as good as he is right now. Pass.
  10. Magill's use bothered me more when he was pitching well. He's been pretty bad lately.
  11. Romero should never have been sent down, and he should get this spot in the rotation.
  12. Great game by Garver, and great job by Odorizzi holding it together throwing to such a bum. I look forward to Magic Fingers Wilson being back in there tomorrow.
  13. They have picked up 2.5 games on Cleveland this series. The lead is back to single digits. At a minimum, I don't expect any early trades. They would still have to be within 6-8 games by 7/31 to not sell. I felt 8-3 on this home stand was the minimum not to begin blowing things up at the ASB. So far so good.
  14. The pitchers can suck it up. Berrios didn't exactly seem adversely effected yesterday. Besides, hopefully they can see that losing 3-2 games is in part because you send people up to bat who have zero chance of doing anything. The FO can make it clear by releasing him already.
  15. The Garver thing is on Molitor but at some point it's also on Falvine. Much like Gardy with Punto, if your kid's diabetic, and you know they can't resist cake, but you keep buying cake, at some point it's on you.
  16. Sure. If someone calls and offers you a top 10 prospect from their system, fine. But that's unlikely. Far more important to shop the 6-7 guys who aren't under team control for next year or have options we won't pick up.
  17. We can't trade everyone. We already have 6 or more tradeable pieces. How much less will he be worth 1 year from now. Keep him and look towards 2019. Not dump everyone and look towards 2021. If we trade everyone people suggest we'd be dumping 7 or 8 guys, getting 12 + prospects back in return and then having to release guys in the minors we might still like.
  18. He hits .220 with no power. He's not even a bench bat. At least Vargas or Carter could hit a HR once in a while.
  19. When is the last time a Twins catcher started a day game after a night game? Was Garver hurt? Running Wilson out there day after day is so ridiculous. Continuing to put out line-ups with Wilson, Grossman, etc. in the lineup when there are better alternatives is like a giant middle finger to the fans who have to watch this offense.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong but his FA is based on service time not time on the 40 man roster. Yes, if they call him up now and he stays up the rest of the season they would lose a year. But Polanco is coming back. So using Gordon for 3 weeks or a month will not lose a year of control. It will just burn an option which should not be an issue.
  21. I know but he was fine at AA and AAA is a small sample size. Polanco is back in 3 weeks or so. It won't hurt to give him a long look.
  22. Mackey and Judd were discussing the other day and basically said Buxton's struggles are in part because cares too much is over-thinking at the plate and Sano's because he doesn't care enough and just wants to weigh 300 pounds and spend his career swinging for the left field fences. I think that is the difference.
