  1. Right or wrong, both last year and this year the business side is impacting the baseball side at the trade deadline, just in opposite directions. Last year turned into a PR disaster. If they were to sell and trade Jeffers, Ryan and Larnach while being 1 game out of the play-offs it would be another PR disaster. And they can't afford that, especially with a likely work stoppage looming. The Twins are as unpopular with their fan based as they have been since the early 80's and they need to make it better, not worse.
  2. Nice come back but they need to do something with the offense. Going into the 6th inning with no run every single game can't work. Call up Jenkins and Culpepper immediately.
  3. As bad as the offense has been, I no longer think you can say you're going for it AND trade Jeffers. Keep him. Take the pick. Trade that player as part of your 2028 World Series push.
  4. Rojas is probably ahead of him too if they keep him a starter. Paredes is also an option. Plus Zebby is out of options next year IIRC.
  5. He has an ERA over 5 this year. In 39 career starts over 3 years, he has an ERA over 5.He's behind Ryan, Lopez, Bradley, Ober, Preleipp and Abel in the starting pecking order for 2027. I'd rather have him in the bullpen then our 7th starter stashed in St Paul. If he can add 2-3 mph he can be the next Morris. I doubt he'll ever be more than a 5th starter.
  6. This. Preleipp starts today. Wouldn't shock me if he goes down for Kremer tomorrow. Then Zebby back up next weekend
  7. Zebby profiles similar to Morris and Varland. They should move him to the bullpen for 2027 for sure. Probably not fair to ask him to do it now.
  8. Their "break even" payroll is ~$130 million. They were at ~$116 million going into the season, even counting Correa and Pablo. They are probably closer to $106 if they have any insurance on Pablo. They can certainly afford to take on some salary.
  9. A relief pitcher would have won them 5-6 more games in two months? Wow.
  10. There's no world in which it was a good trade. At the absolute best, Rojas vs Varland may eventually be a wash. Roden is just a guy. At best, it's a push in 3 years. At worst it's a disaster. Currently much closer to a disaster.
  11. It doesn't make sense to move Mathews to the bullpen in 2026 at this point. But he should absolutely be moved to the bullpen for 2027.
  12. This is a fairly nothing move. He's a Paredes AAA/6th starter replacement, but crying over trading a prospect not even in the top 20 who has an 80% chance of never seeing the Major Leagues is over the top.
  13. Time to shake up the line-up: 1. Martin RF 2. Keashall CF 3. Larnach LF 4 Jeffers DH 5. Clemens 2B 6. Lee 3B 7. Lewis 1B 8. Caratini C 9. Kriedler SS
  14. Freddy Paralta seems like a reasonable fit and wouldn't cost too much. Dasan Hill and Matt Wallner should get it done. If Robby Ray can be had for the same return, I'd prefer him.
  15. They should be willing to do that. The payroll is way under where they need it to be, especially if Pablo's contract was partially insured.
  16. I see no issue keeping 3 lefties. Adams should go. If they add another arm then it's between Funderburk and Anderson.
  17. They desperately need to call up Jenkins and Culpepper and not Tristan Gray.
  18. I get that they don't like not having a back-up SS, but Lee can play there and has played there and no one died. Calling up Gray over Jenkins is ridiculous.
  19. While a team normally shouldn't let what fans think influence things, this is likely an exception. The Twins standing with the MN fan base was at an all-time low to start the season. It's recovered only marginally. If they were to sell again while being 1 game out of the play-offs, followed by a work stoppage, the damage might be such that they never recover and become the A's circa the last 15 years.
  20. I'm sure it's not their preference, but they need Jeffers. As long as it's not done 30 minutes before the deadline, they can get other bullpen help with the prospects they were going to offer us.
  21. The trades I would make: Jeffers and Taylor Rogers to the Yankees for Brett Headrick and Paul Blackburn Dasan Hill and Matt Wallner for Freddy Peralta.
  22. Larnach isn't a must trade. Bringing him back as the primary DH in 2027 is fine.
