  1. MLBTR is reporting that D'Arnaud has been placed on revocable waivers. I may be wrong here, but doesn't the team with the worst record in the opposing league have the first shot at claiming a player who is on waivers, and thus have the initial exclusive opportunity to try and trade for that player? Also, haven't the Mets been scraping to add firepower to their lineup? If my assumptions are correct, wouldn't this be an interesting fit for a trade?
  2. It's his most realistic long term landing spot. He's got the arm for 3rd but not short? Escobar is not known for his glove, so defense isn't really an excuse. I just really don't understand.
  3. According to another quick look, they may also need starters. Maybe a Santana+Abad for one of the young catchers and a young flamethrower?
  4. According to my 45 second research project, the pirates have two nice looking young catchers (Maguire, and Diaz) in the pipeline, and seem to be seeking bullpen help. What do you think it would take to pry away some of their existing surplus?
  5. Beautiful and very sad. Thanks for sharing!
  6. Now that Plouffe is injured- what are the odds they put Sano at 3rd for the time being? Or is Nunez is the choice...?
  7. Santana looks good. Dozier seems to have brought a new approach and it's showing.
  8. Thanks-- I have Comcast though :-(
  9. Game is not on MLB network right now, and FSN has Wild pregame show. Any one have the scoop???
  10. The Twins have needed catching depth for several years now. Going into the offseason, the depth chart looked something like this- Suzuki Hermann Fryer Pinto So then, we trade away Hermann, and lose Pinto to waivers. We add JR to hopefully inherit the starting duties moving forward...? We currently have less catchers than we started with. I'm wondering if another catcher will be acquired to continue to build depth. Perhaps Suzuki becomes the back-up, Murphy is AAA depth, and another catcher is acquired? Perhaps a team seeking veteran leadership at catcher trades for Zook and we continue to pursue another option? Something isn't adding up to me.
  11. I still think he can figure it out. I remember reading that he's a smart and articulate guy, not unlike May, but who once had a more impressive make-up. If he had something several years ago that made him so appealing, it's still in him. Especially when control is the issue, I have to believe it's a mechanical fix. Especially when you've got 6'7 of body to manage and maintain--I imagine it can be difficult to assess angle and release issues.
  12. If we offered Milone instead of Nolasco would they include Shields?
  13. If they wanted to do Norris instead of Hedges would you do it?
  14. I would love this blockbuster.
  15. Right, but realistically was Hicks going to be more than a 4th OF with us? One month of significant productivity over 3 years does not a starter make. If the Angels are interested in Plouffe, as we've been told they may be- there may be room for addition catching help there. If the Nats are shopping Ramos, there may be a fit there.
  16. Real Question-- Is it possible that the Twins aren't done addressing their catching needs, and that Murphy is a depth for depth acquisition? Also, if the Nats sign Weiters, as some are speculating they will try to do, I think Ramos would be a great fit back north. A Storen, Ramos for Plouffe and another legit piece may be a fit.
  17. I can't help but notice that the Angels currently have 3 youngish/upside-ish players on the roster. Jet Bandy would be a fun get... Also, what is the conversion in regards to a full time starting position player being drafted for a reliever? I.e.- is Plouffe alone enough to snag a Chapman, Storen, or Kimbrel?
  18. While Twins fans are over valuing Plouffe, don't all teams over-value their own guys to an extent? And to that point, can't we assume that a deal could be done that both sides would be equally unhappy with?
  19. I'm excited to see what Park can do--but I don't know what it does to solve any of the Twins current deficiencies. Either the Twins are 100% ready to give up on Arcia and to a lesser extent Vargas- or they have a master plan for juggling a handful of players who play the same position.
  20. Berrios Hicks Dozier For D'Arnaud/Plawecki DeGrom/Syndergaard/Mats/ Harvey Gilmartin Do you do it?
  21. Or what about: That's all valid. Howabout Nolasco and Polanco for BJ and Kimbrel?
  22. Howabout: Hicks (Could start in TB's OF) Vargas (Switch DH and can spell Loney at 1B with real power) for Justin O'Connor (potential long-term option at catcher) Brad Boxberger (significant BP help) -Then- Nolasco (salary dump for Twins- potential rotation upside for SD) Polanco (future MI help) For Shields (#2ish rotation starter) Upton Jr (salary dump for SD, takes over 4th OF spot from Torii) Kimbrel (serious BP help) Thoughts? Also, Duensing.
